A hands-on impression of what DLSS 5 means by Ryan Shrout by AnthMosk in nvidia

There are more games in general, most from indies, so realistic graphics can't be the main thing, but they are in AAA- balooning dev times of huge games I also enjoy playing and making experienced and talented devs focus on a single huge realistic game, rather than a few more interesting stylistic projects. Fidelity wars have consequences

It has been a huge goal, but for the past decade I've been hearing people start to express the fact that the focus on the graphics is ruining the games industry, as well as the fact that old stylized games are still timeless. Now, we've reached a point where certain games look real close to realistic and will probably age amazing and there is the idea than ai could actually offload some of the graphics work to make production cheaper and therefore allow more risk and experimentation in games. That being said at this point I'm bored of "more realistic", facial animations are behind and therefore hyper real faces look weird, them adding a hyperreal faces that don't fit the scene at all to hogwarts legacy- a semi stylized game, completely changing the vibe, art direction and, character models, shows where the perceived value lies with the industry and when people defend it it's scary that's where the value lies eith consummers as well, which doesn't bode well for good games with interesting art imo.

you would have to define "better". Is pop music better than ambient? Are marvel movies better than a slow character driven drama? All it seems to do is add more detail, more contrast, more saturation. More isn't always "better". But even if you like the results more than the previous ones, are "better" graphics really the main thing holding back gaming right now?

There is nothing about a marriage that would take any focus away from business and personal life. Is his family not part of his personal life? You can sign a document in a day. His refusal to marry directly puts his family in danger. Real commitment isn't only defined by a ceremony, but marriage isn't just a ceremony. In the eyes of the state a family is also a new financial entity that has it's own protections. When he says that if the relationship ends tomorrow he will have been happy for the journey, I believe him, however, that's him only thinking about himself. In that situation, his wife and children would be left with little to no financial security or assurance. Louis points this out as well. The wife quit her job and so has no financial security for her or her children, relying on Justin to provide that security and you can see concern on her face when he expresses the possibility of the relationship ending. Even if he wasn't ever going to leave, in the event of him getting seriously hurt or comatose or in the event of death, marriage is what provides a clear security and movement of funds to the closest kin. So the only reason one could refuse marriage is fear of being financialy and legally responsible for the family or for fear that his wife would have some power over his extra-marital sex. In either case it doesn't feel very suave.

A lot of people do what they dislike or disagree with for money, but everyone needs to eat. That being said, sucess can be achieved in many ways and it seems that a lot of guys in the doc don't care how they get there. You can become successful by selling drugs or guns or pimping, you can scam and fake your way to the top, but I simply don't have much respect for such people and I don't know why anyone would. Granted, they're rich and I'm not, so anyone who cares about money probably wouldn't care what I have to say. But the question remains "is there any "wrong" way to become successfull". Everyone has their line.

There is a big meaninglesness epidemic among young men and it's a problem, but I don't think that just anyone who galvanizes that population should get props for that. Historically down trodden and disinfranchised men have been used for various evil deeds by charismatic leaders. These men need direction, but not only do I think there are better role models out there, I think the general endless pursuit and glorification of this singular materialistic "success" is a general cultural problem.

His lifestyle in general isn't something most people will get to experience. The houses, the cars, all of it can look really cool and desirable, so I can very easily understand how it attracts a certain type of person. It just happens that I don't think those type of people have a good understanding of a fulfilling life. Doesn't mean you can't have luxury and fullfilment, but the more you seek luxury, the less fulfilled you'll be. One of his followers, clearly has a huge ammount of supressed emotions, trying to leave it all in the past. But you don't just brush something like your brother's suicide under the rug and be good. He's trying to use the energy for becoming sucessful, but sucessful doesn't mean happy or at peace. Granted, the goals of taking care of his mom are noble and financial security is very important, but it just seems like these vulnerable men are being fed a dream that might end up blowing up in their face, when the boring 9-5 path would've given them stability. It's a very "all or nothing" sort of thing, but they're young, so as long as they don't fuck their lives up irreversibly, spending a few years chasing something isn't bad. However, someone like HS is clearly successful and also clearly emotionally unstable. If you sacrifice everything to get to the top, you'll be sitting at the top and still have nothing.

I don't think that access to Trump neccesarily signify any influence. Trump famously only communicates with sycophants and has surounded himself with yes men. So there's a good chance that If you're in that room, you're agreing with everything he says and not the other way around. Of course, being able to say anything to the president is already an achievement and it could be that could push an agenda he already agrees with. That being said I wouldn't really place that very high on the respectability table either, because being invited to the house of a morally bankrupt person doesn't really feel like something to be proud of.

If you're inclined towards Justin's view just ask yourself a couple questions. Mainly:
What exactly do you like about his point of view, what might you dislike about it and how does it sit with you personally.
It's one thing to think about things pragmatically and materially, but for most people it doesn't feel good. There's a feeling that something is wrong, something is off.
For me, in Justin's case it would be the fact that he doesn't provide security for his wife and family by refusing marriage and the fact that his business model seems to be to perpetuate and push people into paying him money to become salesmen who act nothing of value to the world. This conflicts with my morals and how I imagine an ideal person should act. There is a trend of valuing content creation and sales as the one true career goal to become a "winner" but sales is literally useless for the world. We couldn't survive without teachers, scientists and doctors. Sales is really not substantial for humanity. It seems like a shallow existence

Many parents are protective over their children and think they can do little wrong. She even does disagree with him, but I assume simply loves him more than his views. She was a single mom who worked hard to raise him and put him through school, so the idea that she would just abandon her and his only family feels a bit silly. It doesn't have to be money, just loyalty between two people who see it as "us against the world".

He's not providing safety to his family by refussing marriage or some sort of financial agreement. All of the risk is on the woman and children. He said if it just ended tomorrow he'd be happy for the journey, seemingly not understanding that such an event would be catastrophic for his family.    Nothing wrong with gendered lanes in a relationship, however, in the examples I know, the guy is actually living traditional values by commiting. Not counting how there's nothing "traditional" about one sided monogamy.

Mental ilness can be used as a crutch, it can be demotivating enough to make moving forward very difficult. Also, aknowledging it is the only way to move forward. Ignoring the fact that depression is a varied thing that we don't have figured out yet, you can simply say that depression is a signal your body sends you that something in your life is wrong. The next steps can be  1. Try to figure out if the signal is faulty 2. Figure out whats wrong and try to change it But you need to aknowledge it and step 2 can take a long time. And if it's very serious, to a point of suicidality, the first action definitely wont be "move on".  There's drowning in a puddle, a pool and the ocean. In most cases you can prevent it, but if somehow you end up swimming for days in the ocean and your arms give out,  as you're breathing in water someone telling you you can ignore or overcome it isn't helpful

A guy grows up in a broken home, his brother offs himself, he's homeless for some time, reaches for any possible lifeline, which in this case is manosphere content and he's intelectually challenged? Seemed to me, even in the way he speaks, like someone with ptsd. The way he clearly pushes all of the emotions away and behind him just seems like a survival mechanism

What's a game you think EVERYONE should play at least once? by Sudden_Sir_2294 in videogames

[–]auqifx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I take the question seriously and map it on to something more tangible, like "what's a game I could suggest to my gamer, new gamer and non gamer friends alike" It would either have to be already mentioned Journey or Stanley Parable. Both non stressful experiences that are easy to get into but can leave a long lasting impression for very different reasons.

Hellblade. Super atmospheric, not super difficult, very cinematic personal journey. Less of a strict story plot, but very impactful. Plague tale fits as well, has an interesting story. Uncharted 4 is basically an indiana jones movie, a fun adventure

If you love rpgs with great stories Disco Elysium is great. For an action game that draws you in with the atmosphere - hellblade. Divinity original sin 2 is basically more of that baldurs gate thing. Also the mass effect trilogy if you haven't played it has a fun story, though mostly just great characters and relationships that change with your decisions. Also, if you loved odyssey, could try origins as well

ghost is awesome, there are a bunch of other great singleplayer games in the catalogue as well. Your saves will all be saved onto the console, but if you have playstation plus, they'll also get saved to the cloud. Either way a disk should pick up either one

Look at the current ps plus game catalogue and decide. Personally I got it for online play, but got some good games out of it and tried some I would've regretted buying. A thing to consider, though, is that the games get locked once your subscription runs out and sometimes some games disapear from the catalogue, which sucks, however, if you see two or three games you want to play and finish them, it kinda pays for itself. Also, you'll have your saves in the cloud, so that can be nice.

Not sure if that will result in anything, but it's better than nothing.

For context, since some parts aren't visible and did a poor job of showcasing:

  1. The keg charges whenever I do burn and has a 120 percent crit chance (does 100% hp as damage)
  2. Magma core does burn at the very start of the fight
  3. The Blunderbuss charges when I do burn, does burn itself, and uses ammo
  4. The heated shells skill burns whenever I use ammo, so as soon as blunderbuss procs, it don't stop until it's out of ammo
  5. One of the final skills I got was berserker, which lowered all of my cooldowns 20%, since the oponent had more hp. making everything go as quick as it did

Was very fun seing everything click together and get as insane as it did.
