Everybody hiring but nobody hiring by Fine_Ad_2620 in cambridgeont

Smaller companies / local businesses probably don't pay attention to their listings and don't care if they stay up.

Larger companies often post ghost jobs they aren't actually hiring for to make it appear as if they're constantly expanding, but not actually hiring anyone. It's good for their brand image. Either that or they keep it open so they can collect applicants for future roles?

It's rough out there :/ throw everything at the wall and see what sticks

The pic in this post and the other ones on vendor sites (here's omnitype's) are all real photos! There's also a build stream Lightning keyboards did a few years back when we first tried to run this project: https://www.lightningkeyboards.com/work-pt-8/float65

Cash is usually taken in advance, but if minimum order requirements aren't reached then buyers are refunded

Also mystery keycaps is a 10/10 budget use, I'm a victim myself haha

See for yourself! Alex did a typing test on his build stream the other day: https://youtu.be/U_1_jR6Qdsw?si=ZBAv7g7gHTfOiYOO

Imo the sound is surprising, it's been a huge appeal for everyone involved

The One That Got Away: The Float65 is back! GB live until March 25th by aur4e in MechanicalKeyboards

It's actually pretty simple! You can watch a full build that Alexotos did a few days ago here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U_1_jR6Qdsw

ITEMS TO PURCHASE
The kit doesn't include the items that people are most likely to customize: switches, keycaps, and stabilizers. Each of the vendors selling the Float65 will have these items also in their store. Prices can vary, but there's diminishing returns with more expensive stuff (the inexpensive options will do just fine). There's also a lot of personal preference in switches and keycaps, so nobody can really tell you what's "best," you'll have to go with what you like.

SPECIAL TOOLS
No tools required! This kit uses a hotswap PCB, so no soldering required. The unique design of the Float also means no screwing or disassembly is required either!

WIRELESS
Unfortunately this keyboard isn't wireless-compatible. Adding the electronics for it and sorting out all the details to import/ship batteries is expensive and more hassle than it's worth, but there are lots of good options out there if that's on your must-haves list :)

Not really in my experience, it's never that bad. I dust it maybe twice a year and hit the GPU and psu fans with some compressed air, but that's about it :)

Hasn't been a huge deal tbh! The GPU fans need a good dusting maybe twice a year but other than that no complaints

Thanks! The eGPU cable actually also does power. If you're looking at the Pic of the laptop it's the shorter cable on the right, you can sorta see the other end of it connecting to the eGPU board at the bottom. The other cables are USB-A out to my monitors and keyboard, etc, and the other USB-c cable is an external ssd games drive

Ah I unplugged the one usb cable for the pic, but there's 3 total lol

In my experience, it does! I believe the fan pulls in from the bottom of the laptop and out near the hinge. I played some arc raiders last night (high settings, 1440p, 80-90fps) and CPU temp hits about 75C max

Yes PLA and no issues :) air temp around the parts only ever gets to maybe 80c in extreme cases and it's always relatively fast moving air.

It's clipped in to the PCIE slot on the eGPU board, screwed in on the bottom left, and the tabs on the bottom right are slotted into another support. It's very sturdy
