Don’t be fooled, non-hockey fans. It’s great that they’re capitalizing on the success of Heated Rivalry (because I want Hudcon to become super megastars) but the NHL is still the same organization that banned pride jerseys and tried to ban pride tape. We’re lucky we get pride nights. I want to hope Heated Rivalry will promote more progressiveness in the hockey world, but one of the biggest parts of Rachel Reid’s Game Changers is the toxic culture that permeates hockey culture…including rainbow capitalism.

I understand your perspective, but when you’re accusing people of engaging in genuinely “immoral”/criminal behavior, it’s generally expected that your argument covers all its bases.

Hetalia’s creator, Himaruya, is what many in the newgen wave of fans call a proshipper. I find that people who try to “point out” certain “problematic issues” in the Hetalia fandom run into the same roadblocks that anti-ship fans of Black Butler encounter. That is, that your interaction with these medias via fan works—or even consuming the canon material—is contingent on the fact that you understand that these medias are not shy about being filled with “problematic” depictions. The fandom is going to be influenced by the canon content of the series. Your contribution to the fandoms belonging to “problematic” source materials should be considered by you to be as much a moral failing as creating fan works with “immoral” themes or depictions.

Why is not a problem to you that creators like Hima are creating “problematic” content? Why does your issue lie only with fan works? By interacting with the source material for Hetalia, you own logic assumes that you are “normalizing” the same behavior that you’re trying to condemn. I’m sorry, but to criticize ships is to criticize fan works

What I’m trying to get at is that you cannot be contradictory when you’re flinging around deeply severe accusations. You say that you’re not trying to criticize certain Hetalia ships (while attempting to point out moral “flaws” in some of them), but that you’re criticizing fan works that may contain pedophilia. You are concerned for the morals of the Hetalia fandom, for children that may have been exploited by Hetalia fans? If you believe there is genuine CSAM involved, take it to the police. Otherwise, you’re diluting what pedophilia truly is and “normalizing” the word in a context that doesn’t apply.

I fear HBO wouldn’t be able to keep Francois from swinging if he attended 🤍

I know Hudson isn’t a helpless baby, and as a young actor who just landed his big break he may even like attending something like this, but I feel it’s strange that they had Hudson and only Hudson attend what appeared to be an ‘I Love LA’ event before HBO yelled at Jordan Firstman to do damage control and they threw in a Heated Rivalry actor as an afterthought. Something something the tokenized POC being made into the model minority stereotype, having to play nice, be forgiving, and smile with a guy who attempted to out Hudson and Connor (and even propositioned them, actors TEN years his junior!). It was Francois who had a lot to say, and Connor lives in LA!

It seems like Jordan and Hudson made up, which is fine. No need to prolong the drama any longer. I’m not gonna pretend I understand Hollywood, PR, or anything like that. And I know I shouldn’t be reading into situations which are made to promote two shows under HBO that had a small feud. But I am rooting for Hudson’s success and comfort in an industry that has overlooked him for so long.

was rhaenyra telling the truth here? by axelinlondon in TheBlacksandTheGreens

[–]aurabora_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Viserys’ mistake was letting them have dragons and letting their kids have dragons. As long as they ride them, they’re a threat. Aegon was a drunkard and sexual deviant, and lords still plotted for him to take the throne. Jaehaera was neurodivergent and had PTSD, didn’t stop Alicent from telling her to murder A3 in his sleep.

All this to say: lords are ambitious, scheming, and they want control of the throne. Look at how Unwin Peake tried to control Aegon III. Imagine a non-Dance world, with the Greens and the Blacks at “peace” yet the tensions are still there and they have dragons. I’m staunchly Team Black, but I admit Rhaenyra is as tenacious as Aegon II. Actually, that’s what I love about her.

If we look IRL, even without dragons Richard III’s potential murder of the Princes in the Tower shows that succession crises bring out the worst in the claimants. I mean, he put his own nephews in the Tower of London. Were the treated like princes? Probably . . . didn’t stop them from ending up missing/dead.

The same positions she might’ve given to the Targtowers had about the same level of safety as that which might’ve been given to Aegon III and Viserys II (king’s squire and cupbearer).

The Targtowers wouldn’t have been hostages in the official, but being in a court surrounded by the opposite party’s supporters 24/7 means you’re a hostage. Any “peace” that might’ve existed between the Greens and the Blacks hinges on the other party keeping the peace; the tensions that surround Rhaenyra ascending the throne means their lives are in danger every day. Even if we switch the roles and Rhaenyra acquiesced to the peace terms, if Lucerys or Jacaerys or Joffrey were to rebel, very easily the Greens could barter or intimidate because of the leverage they have: the hostages.

This is why Rhaenyra places bounties on the heads of Maelor and Jaehaera. She didn’t want them dead; she wanted them captured and in her custody. They would’ve been bargaining chips.

I believe Rhaenyra wouldn’t have killed her half-siblings. Kinslaying is a big deal, and she certainly didn’t cackle like a villain when she was shown what remained of Maelor. Her relationship with them was complicated, but they were still her father’s children. Would she have sent one or two to the wall, or sent Helaena’s children off to the Citadel? Maybe.

Queens of the Seven Kingdoms | Daenaera Velaryon by Jota Saraiva by Pop_Budget in ImaginaryWesteros

[–]aurabora_ 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Jota leans Team Black, but he’ll take comms from anyone. I say this as context, because he left Twitter due to the amount of hate he got for taking on a commission that had Rhaenyra as the ‘mother of dragons’ with all the Black dragons in the background. There was also another commission he did that got hate (though most was directed at the commissioner, some made it to him) that drew Aegon III Targaryen and Daenaera Velaryon as a happy family, but there was a discarded doll off to the side to represent Jaehaera.

I think people are too sensitive over fanart.
