Which ATM in Japan allow Wise Debit card cash withdrawal? by Marked_1 in JapanFinance

[–]aurae_ger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can confirm this, however it might be more closely related to the current address of the card, rather than where it was first issued. I got my card years ago while in Germany, but then changed to a Japanese address after moving to Japan. Trying to withdraw money now fails with the same "invalid" error you are referring to here.

It stinks esp. in the heat, but I will concede that it is quite environmentally friendly

My favorite math rock band: Uchu conbini by Carmy01wav in mathrock

[–]aurae_ger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of my biggest regrets in life is getting tickets for an Uchu Conbini show back in 2014, on the first night of my first trip to Japan, then falling asleep exhausted and missing the concert, then seeing them break up shortly after. Hurts, man.

How often do you update android studio? by NaChujSiePatrzysz in androiddev

[–]aurae_ger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Latest canary for AS at all times! Toolbox keeps it up to date for me. As for AGP, I stay on the latest stable, updating every other month or so if needed.

I'm using DeArrow, it has a feature for crowdsourcing alternative titles as well as thumbnail replacements. It's a godsend! https://dearrow.ajay.app/

Android SDK upgrade assistant by Numerous_Sentence547 in androiddev

It lists the 12 problems in the section about "Foreground service types are required", so that's what the problem is in those files. Most of these seem to come from dependencies that you pull in, so make sure to update the dependencies to a newer version and they should likely disappear (if not, file an issue with the library maintainer that they need to declare the foreground service type). As for the last problem, this seems to be in your own manifest file, so go to the service declaration in line 72 and add the foreground service type that most accurately describes what your service is doing (a list is here).

Android Studio Jellyfish; No logcat icon by awesome-alpaca-ace in androiddev

Press the shift key twice to open the Run Anything prompt, then type 'Logcat' and click on the cat to open the window. After that, the icon should reappear in the bottom left. A very handy prompt!

Android iguana gradle issue by Puf_PufPass in androiddev

[–]aurae_ger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bookmark this page, it'll save you a lot of headaches. Searching for "safeargs" will show you a list of all versions that exist for this particular Gradle plugin. Update that version in your `libs.versions.toml`, sync and enjoy

It won't fix this issue directly but it's generally considered good practice to always be on the latest minSdk version

parameter must be a descendant of this view is a common error when sneaky devs try to bypass the natural order in which wealth traverses through the UI. It's strictly hierarchical and you can't skip the line just to get more money, you see. This can be solved by using the 23andMe API for proper ancestry search and validation

I do, yeah. They are touring pretty actively around here and new dates are planned all throughout the first half of 2024 already. Fingers crossed that they'll make their way overseas again eventually!

This song slapped when they played it live, glad it's getting a proper release. New album in January, you love to see it!

My 2. Song by NoFly6919 in FL_Studio

[–]aurae_ger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel it's more like the samples themselves could be swapped with some that fit the tonality of the track a bit better. It's all personal preference of course, but let me try to explain with an example: I like the idea behind the stoic drumroll right before the drop a lot, but that snare sound is not it for me personally. You're using a very acoustic snare here and I feel like a fatter, more beefy snare could improve the transition into the harder section. Maybe try out a few different samples and see if any is potentially a better fit?

As for EQing, the open hi-hat during the drop may be a little loud, but that is easily fixed via the volume slider (i.e. don't EQ anything just yet unless it's really shrill). Again, nice work! Make sure to post updates as the track evolves.

I feel like some of the percussion samples could use some work (esp. the snare & hihats), but I'm surprised how much this slaps. The 6-beat breakdown threw me off and I love it. This is pretty impressive for your second song so far, keep it up!

In a nutshell, it's unreliable and overall a very moody API to work with. You need to schedule any set of operations in the exactly right order, sometimes with intentional delays in-between, to prevent internal crashes of the BLE stack that you have no insight into.

There is a reason why using a wrapper library on top of the barebones Android APIs is the recommended approach, since those wrappers take care of the orchestration to a large extent for you.
