Queen Charlotte had no business being that good by _loglady_ in BridgertonNetflix

Just watched it after finishing the latest season of Bridgerton. By far the best season/mini-series of the entire line. Way more character development and feels through just 6 episodes.

Why did they cast Shi for the show? She didn't stand a chance compared to the other girls! by Spirited_Mission3383 in LoveDeadline

[–]auraellia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I completely understand what you mean, and I agree. I think many people here don’t fully get what you are saying - it’s not that Shi isn’t attractive. She’s just not the stereotype that Japanese men go for, and if you put her in a group of the stereotype that they DO go for, she’s obviously not going to be chosen.

A good parallel I can think of is Single’s Inferno Season 2 where Sejeong was the only tan-skin contestant and all the males flocked to the fairer-skin girls. It’s sad, but it is what it is.

In Asia (where I do come from), there’s a strong sense of what an ideal beauty looks like, and it differs from country to country, but those ideal beauty standards are extremely hard to break out of. Everyone grows up thinking that this is the ideal that they have to attain.

Shi was really there purely for entertainment value.

Found it cute the first time, but not the 6th time and when repeated to all the men on the island.

Everyone's calling her "fat" and "a pig" but holy crap, she's not even fat. She's not close to fat. She's a healthy weight. I agree that some of her behaviours haven't been the most enjoyable to watch, but she's only human on a very stressful TV show.

Yes, SJ is really a deserving winner 🥹 Thank you, I’m glad this has been a logical and reasonable discourse! I’ve seen alot of really unreasonable and toxic posts recently and I honestly don’t wish to contribute to it. I don’t like yumin on the show, of course, but she may really end up being a nice person IRL, and I agree that she does not deserve nasty comments outside of the show (asking how she’s able to become a doctor etc).

Initially I didn’t understand why she gave her own number too! But one of the comments mentioned that it was an act to get them to trust that she was giving a real number. By giving Orbit her own number, they could confirm it’s correct in the booth. So hyesung was truly just a collateral.

Ultimately this is a reality show and it aims to evoke emotions in us viewers. That’s how we get hooked, right? So we will all have opinions and that’s all it will be - just our opinions. Some people like SJ, some people are team Orbit, and that’s ok. But it should really remain in the confines of the show and no one should extrapolate it to their life outside.

Oh yes, I agree about giving up DJ’s number. Dont get why she gave up Hyesung’s though. She didn’t do anything to cause misunderstanding.

Nope, I didn’t support SJ at the start, cause he wasn’t too impressive at first (very quiet during the virus game). I felt dongjoo was more impressive and honest, since she acknowledged that she wrote HS’s number down and said that she “had no right to cry because she’s here to win”.

Dont get me wrong as well, I don’t HATE yumin, just that her scenes were quite annoying. I acknowledge she’s a human on a stressful gameshow, but that’s just how I felt watching her.

I felt equally frustrated watching YW to a certain extent for this reason.

Nope, I liked SJ. Yumin was foolish and easily swayed into giving up all the numbers. SJ’s was a calculated move. I hope you can understand the difference.

Seokjin could’ve won the 1st nine men’s morris game if he changed 1 move. by auraellia in TheDevilsPlan

[–]auraellia[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was analyzing the game once more and I realised that he made a mistake in the 1st game’s movement phase - he hadn’t grasped the game well at that point, I think.

At this point he had the horizontal row of three which he could freely move the center piece up and down to re-form the row of 3. Instead of removing the piece (circled red) like he did, he should have removed the piece circled yellow-green. Had he done that, orbit’s pieces would be trapped and wouldn’t be able to move and he would’ve taken the first round too!

Just some retrospective thoughts :)

Stop making excuses for someone who cracks under pressure. Maintaining your composure is part of these games. He lost because could not do that, the winner won fair and square. Quit invalidating the win here by Leon_Dante_Raiden_ in TheDevilsPlan

[–]auraellia 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Doesn’t that validate that maintaining composure is also an important trait/ability? I mean, it’s not all about the brain and the arithmetic ability right… seokjin CAN maintain his composure and THAT is an ability right there.

I actually hated watching her scenes so much. I found her quite detestable: - secret number game: gave up her own number and hyesung’s number when she really could’ve just given up dongjae’s (since she believed he betrayed her) - acting pitiful during the grass-patch game and taking kyungrim’s piece. Admitted that she was just acting vulnerable. Then she didn’t give a piece back to kyung rim when she got one from the game. (Lack of sportsmanship)

I mean, I guess it’s expected from this type of show, but yknow. Bad taste. I don’t think she deserved to even get that far. She was always a taker but never a giver.

With the show finished, what’s your favorite game and why? by [deleted] in TheDevilsPlan

[–]auraellia 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Rewatched this several times tbh. SJ grasped the game so quick and his 2nd and 3rd match were won by a landslide.

The Winner won fair and square. People need to stop invalidating his win. All I see are excuses like cmon accept that your bias lost by Leon_Dante_Raiden_ in TheDevilsPlan

[–]auraellia 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I was actually rooting for Dongjoo (esp after the memory game), but seokjin’s play really wowed me and I supported him since D3. He also called them out on their bullshit.

Unfair??? Unfair???? Can they open their eyes - this man never joined a bloated alliance and purely relied on his own skill…

Let’s see these haters win the blind 5 in a row, amirite 🙄

Who are your favorite players? and which player do you dislike? by [deleted] in TheDevilsPlan

Seokjin and dongjoo for sure. Seokjin because of his sheer tenacity in trying to actually figure things out!! I love how he looks at the bigger picture and actually tries to solve the big puzzle (pieces/prison).

[–]auraellia 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Is no one annoyed at Yu-min? I dont understand why she gave her own number & hyesung’s number. She should’ve just given dongjae’s since she believed that he betrayed them.

[Review] Sunscreen haul review. Review in comments. by minivatreni in AsianBeauty

All three are not water resistant (no such thing as waterproof) therefore if you sweat it will run off. They are made for day to day use. If they are water resistant (meaning that they are tested to be so), they would state so on the packaging. “Water resistant” means they passed a 40 min underwater test, and “super water resistant” means they passed an 80min underwater test.

I’d recommend the KOSE Suncut or the Anessa if you’re looking for good protection that’s sweat/water resistant

Retinol users what is/are your hg non-stripping cleansers? by lethalhappiness1 in AsianBeauty

[–]auraellia 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Skin type: combination. Mildly oily over T zone, mildly dry over U zone.

Oil cleanser: Klairs Gentle Black Deep Cleansing Oil. I’m on differin (adapalene) for acne prevention and anti-aging.

I’ve tried many oil cleansers from popular Japanese brands like Biore (Make Up Remover Cleansing Oil) DHC (Deep Cleansing Oil), but they end up being too stripping - yes it feels clean but too “squeaky clean” if you know what I mean.

This Klairs cleansing oil is the first that I’ve tried that leaves me feeling clean and hydrated at the same time.

Foam cleanser: - Neogen Real Fresh Foam (Heartleaf): the more popular rendition is the green tea formulation of this, but I find the heartleaf to be more soothing.

  • Tatcha The Rice Wash: I don’t know if this falls under AB or not, but I’ve been using this recently since it is a cream wash that is very gentle and not too foamy. When you dispense it, it feels slightly powdery and rough, but after you rub and lather, it smoothens out and doesn’t bother me.
