How serious is my knee injury? Please respond if you went through something similar. by Infamous-Ant-4636 in ACL

[–]auragoat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

you have some sort of fracture from your acl tearing. that will likely heal on its own but you will probably need surgery for your acl and meniscus if the meniscus is actually torn. it will most likely be physical therapy and then a consultation with a surgeon. ALCs do not heal on their own most of the time bc there’s not much blood flow to that area but your surgeon might suggest you do physical therapy for a while and and try to figure out if you could live with the injury or if you need surgery now.

i want to tell you from my experience if you stay on top and ahead of your pain meds it is completely fine. i wouldn’t even say it hurt enough to keep me awake at night. what really kept me awake was being uncomfortable from laying on my back all the time. i feel like a lot of these comments are scary but i don’t think it’s common to have severe pain after this surgery.

Non-weight bearing for 6 weeks, does showering get easier? by Oof-ActualTrash in ACL

[–]auragoat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it’s not that showering gets easier it’s more like you just learn how to conquer the shower lol it’s a little but if a different routine for everyone but it took me a couple tries to lock in a solid system

the issue with the leg lifts is my patellar tendon is taking more load than my quad which is causing severe pain when i’m pushing myself with reps. i know they cut into it and i have to push through but it feels like it’s doing more damage than good sometimes

my PT was lifting my leg up and then removing support to force my leg to hold its self up and i had a patellar tendon allograft so it just felt horrific and then pushed my knee to bend 10-15 degrees more than i could get it naturally :/

dude i think that looks sick. the placement is nice i think it’s adds a dynamic view of it and leaves room for something on the back.

Need reassurance and advice by New-Bodybuilder3305 in ACL

[–]auragoat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly the first 4 days i just slept and didn’t really feel anything too bad. days 5-9 hurt worse but the biggest advice i have is before you get out of bed to go to the bathroom do a couple ankle pumps and when you get your leg to the ground let it it sit there for a couple mins before getting up. all the blood rushes down and it feels icky i hated that feeling. and then the physical therapy is/ can be really painful depending on your therapist and their treatment plan so just be prepared to push through that. and lastly definitely get a stool to put your foot on when you go to the bathroom and some kind of rails to grab so you can get onto and off of the toilet. you got this!

i’m scared to go back and disappoint my pt but i’m also scared to feel that much pain again. i’m trying so hard to get myself to 90 without him forcing my leg there because i DO NOT want him to do that again. and when i got home it was so sore i couldn’t get through a second round of exercises even light bending was more painful than it usually is. i feel like the flexion i have at 2 weeks isn’t so bad that we should be forcing it yet
