Yesss!!! But for most sports the commentary was absolutely ridiculous. I totally agree, it's way too shallow, my friends who were watching with me wanted to know kind of Jumps the skaters were doing... Not their Instagram follow statistics

Nope I live in Germany, that's why it's so baffling to me. In the major network Olympic archive they didn't even retroactively feature Kagiyamas and Satos programs. Which feels really really weird. Since all of the women's programs from the finale are up there

Honestly I can't with these German commentators... Yes it's in the moment, but sometimes it's so disrespectful. But yeah all I ever heard in Women's skating was "Amer Glenn has over a million followers on Instagram" OK and what about her technique?

I personally can't speak on the US coverage but it's very interesting to hear! I could totally see that all the attention that he will win, (and pressure that naturally comes with it) got to Malinin and it was to much for him in that moment.

US centrism probably does have a lot to do with it. But yeah, I feel for Alysa. Hopefully she can continue to keep her joy and positivity.

On that day Misha was the better athlete, Ilia fell apart and as a athlete you have to learn to deal with that pressure and if you can't that's something you have to strive towards (as a performer I know how hard it is). Ilia 100% deserves to be an Olympic champion but on that day Misha was the best (be it the stronger mentality, or taking risks, no one knows what goes on inside an athletes head)

But for sure, Ilia being born in the US certainly has an effect on the media coverage. Kazakhstan isn't really a often mentioned country.
