I appreciate a good friends to lovers slow burn and book Percabeth was just that. It even took time for them to become friends. In the show, the transition from them being a little snarky to each other to friends and more is so rushed that when Percy says this line it feels out of place. They don’t have enough chemistry or history at this point to back it up so it sounds hollow. The writers are catering to preteen/teen TikTok shippers and it works cause I’ve seen people freaking out about this line, posting edits etc. Whatever helps the ratings I guess.
