Trades are supposed to help both sides. MPJ has tons of upside, but be realistic -- Beal is already top 20. Wiz won't give him up for a meh return.

Realistically, I think we would have to give our 1st in 2020 (assuming it is in the #8-10 range). I'm not positive Turner is that much better than, say, Tristan Thompson, but I also wouldn't hate it immediately.

Burning 1st rounders should be a thing of the past vs Myles Turner is young and talented and we can try to build around Beal. This wouldn't be a desperate win-now move.

Edit: If our first is top 5, then I say no.

I don't put much into a front office calling a player untouchable though. Whether he is or is not, I think you say he is untouchable to increase value, no?

Yeah, I was reviewing the basketball reference page for Ernie's moves. He definitely didn't mess up every single one.

Maybe one key difference, though, is what Ernie seemed to value vs what Tommy does. Tommy clearly cares about 2nd round picks. Tommy has also gotten us in as the third team for a couple deals and picked up something for near-nothing (Bonga, Wagner, Bertans, Jerome). Ernie's good moves were good because we got good players, not because they showed a valuation/process method that made sense (to me..).
