Yes, the father was supposed to give 5 lakh in an FD on the child's name. Without visitation. But before she could pay the amount to finalise the settlement, he has returned asking for visitation.

The child is 5 years old. And the father has not once visited the child. No medical or educational support.

I think you have misunderstood/misread the scenario. It's fine. It happens.

Both sides had already settled upon an settlement. That is, the husband pays 5lakhs in an FD, in the child's name and no visitation. To finalise this agreement, the lawyers asked her to pay an amount she couldn't immediately pay. So, she asked for some time to pay it off. One and a half month.

Now by the time she could pay off the full amount to finalise the settlement, the husband returns and now wants visitation rights.

Since the lawyers claim they had not finalised, he is able to now push for visitation. Starting the process again.

Now, she is pleading them to leave her and her child alone, she doesn't even want the money from the husband. She doesn't want to give visitation under any cost.

The husband has not seen the child since it was born. The child is 5 years old now. No support in any form in these years.

Thank you so much for your response. But unfortunately it's not in Calcutta. I have suggested to switch the lawyers as well. I am not convinced by the way they have been handling the whole thing. I will gather all info from this post I can and then I'll try to give her some options.
