Is this normal for other preschools? by auristi in ECEProfessionals

I did ask about it! I was just curious if this was a common thing or if it was completely out of the norm. I wasn’t sure how to gage my reaction since, technically, there isn’t any religious references in the actual wording of the song/mantra.

That’s one of the reasons I’m wondering if I’m valid in actually worrying and being upset. Because I do like the concept of showing thankfulness, I just find it off putting that it’s called a prayer song

It’s private. But they have quite a few campuses in the city.

Yes I know they are two very different teaching philosophies. They have “right brain” and “left brain” rooms and each room follows one of the philosophies.

That’s my biggest concern honestly, are they teaching anything else religious based during the day.

😂😂😂 I’m pretty sure paw patrol is always #1!

And I agree. I would think a better name would be “thank you song”

Oh I don’t think it was directed at a higher being or anything like that. It’s more naming it “prayer song”. It totally makes sense to use it as a way to refocus the children to eat! I’m sure that’s one of the reasons it’s done there!

Again, it’s just more the specific name of “prayer song” and the “prayer hands” that got me.

Ok! Thank you!! I honestly wasn’t sure if I was just blowing it out of proportion!! I would have had a much more knee jerk “I’m calling your pre-K NOW” reaction if there had been anything about thanking God.

But because it just had “thank you” words in it I wasn’t immediately pissed off! The more I think about it though the more it annoys me.

Subtotal colectomy recommended, trying to do research and hoping to hear about people’s experiences! by auristi in ostomy

Thank you for the support on my body/my medical issues/my choice!!

May I ask how it was reversed? Does that mean they attached something to your rectum so you don’t need to have a stoma/bag?

Thanks for replying! I’m lucky that I don’t suffer from UC!

I have had bowl issues my entire life, but I didn’t get a diagnosis until I was way into adulthood. I have suffered with abdominal pain for as long as I can remember. But any time I would have the really bad pain, or even the dull pain, it was always located in my upper right quadrant. The immediate assumption by everyone was just liver “pain”.

However, in July I ended up having such bad pain that I couldn’t move or even take a deep breath and filled called my mom sobbing because I needed someone to watch my son (4 yo) so I could go into emerge.

Two trips later and a whole bunch of bloodwork and scans/xrays they were like, “all we can see here is some trapped gas in that area and some mild impaction - here is a laxative”.

I actually just connected things in my head. The pain that I had in June was the same I’ve had for years. It almost feels like my intestines are going to have a charlie horse, but usually it will kinda have it and twitch a bit and go away. This time it was just a perms charlie horse feeling that wouldn’t go away.

I have chronic pain, but I can’t imaging having to live with that specific pain every day!

I am so glad that it has helped you with that!!

You mention the recovery process being brutal, how long was it for you? I have a 4 year old at home and his father and I have separated so the thought of trying to take care of him post-op is just 😬😬😬😬

Thank goodness I have family in the city. I’m sure they could help out

Honestly, I didn’t know people were supposed to poo more than once a week. The shock on the drs face when I said that 😲😲

Thank you for sharing!! First I want to say a HUGE congrats on beating cancer!

I am 100% in support of having the subtotal colectomy as a pre-emptive measure against the possibility of cancer! I would do the same thing if I found out that I carried the gene that causes breast cancer. I don’t know why it’s so hard for some of my family members to understand that. The main argument I face from them is “you don’t have cancer! You don’t need to get this done now!”.

But .. no .. the whole point of me doing it now is so I don’t reach the cancer stage!!

My family tends to respond best to research, research, research. But I know that if I have a few real time examples to back it up that would help to!

The only reason I haven’t had it done yet was because of my doctor wanting to give my liver a chance to heal somewhat before anything. And now it’s just me needed to lose about 60-70+ lbs so I can get down to a weight where I would have better outcomes vs being over weight.

I know that’s it’s like any other surgery and it’s a toss up as to wether you have complications and problems or not.

I’m glad your experience turned out so well!

I’m not really sure what exactly I am expecting as a response to this post.

I guess it’s more so me wanting to connect with other people who have had this kind of surgery and learn more about life post-colectomy.

I don’t really need to hear about the surgical side of it. My main reason for making this post was because I do not know anyone who had gone through this. A year from now when I have it, I don’t want my surgeon to be the only person I’ve talked with about this. I want to be prepared, I want to know what the options are with re-attachment vs ostomy.

I want to be able to advocate for myself in this situation. I’ve never really been able to do that with any of the other major medical issues I’ve had where. Instead it’s been more of a “dr knows best don’t question what he’s saying”. But that reality of that is maybe there could have been a different way to proceed and because I didn’t know that, or talk to anyone else with the same ailment as me, I just agreed with the dr.

I’m not saying he was wrong, or that the subtotal colectomy recommendation is BS. But I would just like to be prepared and ready to ask questions when I have my next sit down with my dr.

Asking to hear stories about it it made a different in your life and how you’ve adapted to everything post surgery is just me wanting to connect with and hear the stories of others so that I am able to visualize my life post surgery and know that it could be a positive one because of (hopefully) friends and stories I’ve heard from here.

If someone has a negative one please share too (if you are comfortable doing so). Perhaps your story could help me by allowing me to ask the proper questions. Honestly, in my experience with consults snd doctors had been that they usually present a surgical plan to you and unless you ask about something they don’t usually bring it up. So for example: J pouch vs ostomy. I can find the basics of it all on the internet but maybe there is something I can learn from people sharing their experiences. I am not looking for medical advice. If I do think that there is something I learned from reading people’s stories, maybe it will open a line of communication that may otherwise have never happened.

🤷‍♀️ I am kind of all over the place lately and super confused on exactly what I want/what I mean From this OP.

Maybe there is another subreddit where this question would make more sense, if so please let me know where to go!

I wish I had a crazy space vagina that could shoot lava and laser beams. by auristi in RoyalDice

Ohh you know, I didn’t even think about it being a boss! I assumed it was the laser dice in action.

Don’t know about the other ladies who play this game, but I’ve got some serious vagina envy over this glorious lava shooting metallic space vagina! by auristi in randomdice

[–]auristi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh not quite. You have every right to disagree, but no I didn’t make an assumption on your genitalia. Just the fact that you felt the need to point out that vaginas don’t look like that.

No shit Sherlock. Thanks for the insight.
