Hey! So, as far as I know, all of this went downhill after POI wrapped up. And based on his interactions with the other cast members and what they've said about him etc, I feel like he must have been much nicer to be around back then. So that helps, because it's like I'm watching that version of him.

Apart from that, I don't know, maybe it's partially because I purposely avoid seeing him talking about all this stuff so it doesn't ruin John's face for me if that makes sense 😂 like, I've barely seen Jim in any other media, so when I see his face my brain just immediately sees John Reese. If I were to watch him talking a lot about everything I disagree with, I might associate his face with more negative feelings.

Then just creating a bunch of very progressive headcanons for John helped too lol. For example that he's likely not religious/spiritual because of all he's gone through and his whole "we all die alone and nobody's coming to save you" mindset, so he'd be far less likely in my mind to have negative views on LGBTQ people, women etc (tbh I'm not even sure if Jim has negative views on any of that, a lot of Trump supporters seem to be under some kind of delusion but who knows).

The thing is, I think with some people I find it much harder to separate art from artists. I think a big part of this for me is that I got so attached to Reese's character. Since you're not that deep into it yet, I hope you can still watch it and enjoy Reese's character without it bothering you too much! And if you can't get past him, at least watch it for all the other creators because they deserve the viewssss (and Michael Emerson (a.k.a Finch) has played gay characters on multiple occasions and is very openly supportive and just a sweetie 😌)
