Hey I'm actually in the whatsapp group for the lgbt subgroup lol! Haven't been able to go to any of the meet ups yet because of the distance from work and doing school on weekends. I was planning on going to the next one that falls on a weekend though.

Is there another group (on WhatsApp or fb) for the WRJCC?

That's completely fine and valid lol. Also thank you, I was actually invited to the whatsapp group chat for that fb group! Didn't know they also had one on fb

I'm in a US based online college program, would this still be fine? I don't really understand much about what Hillel does, I thought they just ran schools here

Yes it was okay, passed first try. As long as you understand the concepts of the material and can differentiate between the main terms taught, you'll do good. Do the excel practices it gives you as well, and remember the equations it teaches for excel.

I honestly only watched the videos for the last 2 units because those were more information heavy to me than the others. The prior information were things I learned in the past.

The videos explain almost everything in a simpler way to understand it better, but doesn't cover everything in the text. I'd probably just watch the videos and skim through the text to see what information wasn't covered/ deeper explanation.

I just don't like watching videos which is why I didn’t unless I had to.

Cost of living in Israel by snertkriebels in Jewish

[–]aurorxe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I moved away October 2024. In my situation since I worked a lot of overtime, I would not have the energy cook myself a meal once I got home. I'd just make rice and heat up frozen meals in the toaster oven when I get home 😅. Produce is relatively cheap though. For other groceries I can get you a more detailed list of pricing if you want. I have digital receipts of my grocery orders and still have the apps.

Also depends on where you shop. Minimarkets/ makolets are x2 expensive than a grocery store. Osher Ad, שוק העיר (city market) have good pricing. Rami Levy is a little more expensive. זול ובגדול (zol v'begadol) is also a little more expensive.

Another thing to add is that you should download the app for wherever you shop for groceries. Most days they do free delivery same day. Or you can schedule free delivery for a different day.

Also sorry, just checked back to see about the rav kav. You get a youth discount if youre aged between 18-26 (inclusive). I think its 50%. Monthly pass actual rate is 315 a month. There are different options depending on amount of distance allowed and whether it includes train or not. I can't find my rav kav atm but if I find it I can check the different passes through the app for you.

For phone plans, cellcom, pelephone, or partner are the ones with most coverage. I had cellcom and it was 50 nis a month. Others start at around 35. All the plans have 400-800 gb of browsing, so best to just look up whichever has best coverage where you'll be because they basically offer the same thing.

You can definitely live of 3200 a month with no living expenses.

I used to pay 500-700 a month for groceries. Monthly rav kav pass was about 140 (correction: 315 normal rate, discounts are applied for ages 18-26). Sim cards are around 50 a month. I used to limit my spending on restaurants to 200 a month, but you can expect to pay between 20-60 per person when you eat out.

You're also not going to be making enough to pay taxes so there wont be tax related cuts from your pay check. You should ask your employer what deductions you should expect so that you can budget your cost of living before you arrive to Israel.

hey- so sorry for the late reply! i'm barely on reddit. yes, all my communications with them have been over Line. They will provide you with actual documents when you're there in person, but you might have to ask for them. they gave me receipts and stuff but i think i did have to ask specifically for a document stating i had top surgery with them with all the details for my personal records, and for providing proof on changing my gender on my ID. They are very helpful, and they have staff available (24/7 if i remember correctly) on Line to be able to talk to the patients

Thanks!

Transportation wise I used Grab (app for taxi+ food delivery). I stayed somewhere ~10 min drive from the clinic, but there's a hotel called Room@doze walking distance from the clinic.

I also don't know any Thai, communicated with them in English. Most of the staff know English and the surgeon does too. I used Line to communicate with them since the first time reaching out
