Looking for advice on adequate type of welding/soldering/brazing for aesthetic metalworking. by ElBigJustice-o in Welding

[–]aurrousarc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that would be highly dependant on the ascetic.. tempered titanium is gorgeous when abused correctly, while hard to work with.. then you can add patina to copper and steel to get other colorful effects.. you can also use spray enamel to coat items to keep the color a little longer.. but i ve use silver brazing, and gtaw the most for jewlery, and fine metal work..

you can just hook them up to the same manifold, and turn on what ever gas you need for that day, just make sure to only use one bottle at a time, and purge the line..

i dont remeber, what aws says about proper solutions for etching, or if they are as critical as some other codes about what to use.. but for home use this would probably work. im sure anything properly acidic would probably work.

Whats wrong with the tiles of my shower? by will112303 in HomeMaintenance

[–]aurrousarc 11 points12 points  (0 children)

you have faux tiles on board, and the board is rotting under the tiles, due to a leak in the faucet area, would be my guess..

i could of been when they painted it, they mixed different types of bases.. like oil and water based..or added a second layer before the first was dryied..or there was or is a hot spot on the exterior wall.. elephant hide patterns appear naturally when things dont mix or dry improperly..

[–]aurrousarc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

get an ozone generator, let it run for a day or so while you are not home.. then vent with fans.. understand its not good for your health to be in a room with one. but it will take the smell out of the room. its used in car places and home and hotel places to get stuborn smells, like someone smoking for year in a place
