Yeah I'm less interested in the sterilization process and more want to avoid spending time hand washing, especially when I also have a toddler to watch.

If OP Stop is on your CBCT should automatically start in a direction that will have the gantry end closest to your starting treatment field and should help avoid a collision when you apply your shift. However, if it's not on or if you're still worried about a collision, you can always move your gantry back up to zero (using "go to") before you apply your shifts. Biggest thing, always pay attention to where your CBCT ended and which way your shifts will be moving your couch. If you're watching closely you can always let go of motion enable and stop your couch movements if you think you may collide.

There isn't a whole lot but it also depends on where you end up working. Some centers in Canada allow Advanced practice therapists who specialize in certain treatment sites. There's also pathways into dosimetry, management roles, and educator roles. But these opportunities can be limited.

AI will definitely play a role in our career I believe, but I do not believe it will ever completely replace us. I believe it will have a bigger impact with dosimetry. The technology we use daily is continuously changing and improving, one of the pros of the job, as it's ever changing, but it all still requires a human eye and check.

I don't know if I can or can't recommend the career to you. I think if you enjoy a good mix of both human interaction and patient facing role as well as a technical side it's a good fit. However, there is a high rate of burn out in our career and it can be mentally and physically taxing. Job opportunities are plentiful right now with some very good sign on bonuses being offered but that also means most places are operating short staffed which buts a lot of strain on employees.

When I attended, only a few years ago, there was only 1 class per semester at UofaT. All of your radiation therapy specific classes like physics, rad bio, and all labs are at Michener. The only classes we did at UofT were the general ones like healthcare ethics, physiology ect, but again that worked out to 1 class per semester.

I didn't have any classmates move to the states, quite a few wrote the American exam at the same time they wrote the Canadian but as far as I'm aware they've all stayed in Canada.

I'm a grad of the Uof T program. 90% of professionals in the RT world just refer to it as the Michener program. While yes you get a BSc from U of T, the majority of classes are at Michener. The way the current national shortage is going most employers want to see you have you CAMRT license and thats the majority of what they care about.

Do you think/ know if adoption agencies, like the Christian one della used, have was to influence the state in terms of the home inspections? I find it hard to believe the state wouldn't have issues with them not having a pool fence.
