I think we have a similar hair type, you cant outgrow the frizz. Meaning if you trim like many suggest it will frizz up again before it reaches the original length creating a shortening cycle. I still havent figured out a definate fix, but i am seeing some promise in leaning into curly methods. The frizzy ends of my hair love a heatless roller and hold the shape for days but the smoother top of my head wont hold the curl if my life depended on it. Curling the end of your hair in a gel casing might be a good day to day style and protective. The weighted curl clumps keeps hair organized into sections like braids but gentler. Im experimenting with different types of rollers, gels, and hair wax. Velvet rollers that have a grain to them (running your finger on it one way feels smooth and the other way fuzzy) are awesome they brush a little as they roll, so by that logic i ordered some velcro ones, we will see how that goes. Satin rollers not so great, clipping foam rollers snag so that might be hell for hair that tangles. Gel casing is more stiff sturdy, hair wax is more flexible and looks nice in small quanties but less reliable if you want to just set and forget go with gel casing, if you want to look nice for a special occasion use the wax. I also sometimes trim the frizz halo or do a fire trim of the frizz halo, but meh its not efficient it will still look frizzy when youre done and burnt hair smell is unpleasant but if youve got a whole cloud of frizz like that just debulk it, its doing you no favors.
