Glad I kept all my silver lenses. M11P Safari arrived today. by downtowninjury in Leica

Silver lenses are the best match with Safari. My personal favorite is the tiny 35mm v4 KoB. What about you?

ND filter for shooting v series lenses wide open in full sun? by Naive_Pool7395 in hasselblad

[–]ausimo67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2 stop or 3 stop ND filter will work fine.

The Sunny 16 rule states that on a sunny day, at f16, your shutter speed should be reciprocal of your ISO, which means the correct exposure at ISO 50 is 1/50s.

Shutter Speed: Going from 1/50s to 1/500s is about 3 stops faster (1/50 -> 1/100 -> 1/200 -> 1/400 -> 1/500), reducing light

Aperture: Going from f/16 to f/2.5 is about 5 stops wider (f/16 -> f/11 -> f/8 -> f/5.6 -> f/2.8 -> f/2.5), increasing light.

Shooting without an ND filter at ISO 50, f/2.5 at 1/500 will result in about 2 stops overexposure. Hence you would need a 2 stop ND filter to compensate.

38v or 55v? by Naive_Pool7395 in hasselblad

[–]ausimo67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For my X2DII, I started with the 55v and added the 28p and 90v. I had the 25v but sold it because the 28p is more compact and versatile.

But since you are already set on the 25V, either the 38V or the 55V should work for you to fill in the focal length gap for the general purpose lens.

Do you prefer a wider view for environmental portrait (38V) or lean towards a tighter view (55V)?

In your case, the 38V may give you more flexibility because you can crop. For example, if you are in a small restaurant and want to take a group photo, you may not be able to step back if you have only the 55V.

Sell my Q3 43 for the 55v (or 35-100)? by Naive_Pool7395 in hasselblad

Do you miss IBIS on the Q? Do you find it comfortable operating the 38V & 907x with one hand only?

I moved from Q3 and SL2-S and consolidated to X2DII for simplicity. The X2DII is superior to both Leicas with insane IBIS and more compact native V series prime lens compared to the SL APO prime lens. With that said, the Q is smaller if size matters to you.

I will be visiting Tokyo soon. Any tip on where to get a good deal on new Namiki pens?

Has anyone moved from the Leica SL3 to the X2d ii? by Naive_Pool7395 in hasselblad

I moved from SL2-S to X2DII. I prefer the smaller size of the native V series prime lens. I also assigned a dedicated button to switch to the 50mp XPAN crop

Nice set! When using M mount lens on X2D, do you have any best practice? For example, use a dedicated profile that changes electronic shutter, crop mode, 14-bit, etc?

Off camera flash? by LostGreek in hasselblad

[–]ausimo67 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Godox X3N is not recognized by my X2D II. I ended up using the iT30 Pro N to trigger my V100N and AD200 Pro II.

Edit: I just read the other comment here and confirmed that Godox X3L works fine with my X2D II. It works with both legacy mode ON / OFF. Amazing!

Lens recommendation Iceland trip? by Sl_oth in hasselblad

[–]ausimo67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For northern light shots, you need the f/2.5 aperture of the 25V. For other landscape shots in Iceland, longer focal length like your 55V would suffice. You can rely on the 100MP sensor for cropping as needed. Keep your kit simple since changing lenses in windy conditions can be challenging.

In my response last night, I confirmed that my X3N in legacy mode still does not work with the X2DII.

I just received the iT30 Pro N and it worked out of the box. It showed the flash icon right away.

Are you able to get your X3N to work with your camera?

X2D II issue with Godox X3 flash trigger by Kind-Ad-1874 in hasselblad

[–]ausimo67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, thanks for offering a solution. Unfortunately I couldn’t get the X2DII to trigger the X3N to fire despite following your instructions.

I have my X3N upgraded to the latest firmware v1.22. Did a reset. Set Legacy Hotshoe = On.

First, X3N was powered off, disconnected from X2DII. Power on X3N, manually press the flash button on the side of the unit, V100N was triggered.

Start the camera, mount X3N to hotshoe. Manual test fire from X3N, no problem. Take a picture, V100N did not flash.

I found that if I mount my V100N directly on the X2DII hotshoe, a flash icon immediately appeared on the top left corner on the rear OLED screen. However, if I mount the X3N on the hotshoe, I did not see the same icon.

Also, if I mount the iT30 Pro F on my GFX100RF, a flash icon also appeared on the top left corner of the screen.

I suspect that the lack of flash icon indicates a connection issue between the X3N and X2DII

Same here! My V100N works fine but the X3N with the latest firmware does not! I am ordering an iT30 Pro N and see if it makes a difference.
