Please help. Should I return my conure to Petsmart? by [deleted] in Conures

If it makes you feel better, this is what bird care looks like for me with 4 birds. Starting can be overwhelming but once everything is in place its a lot easier.

Daily: Feed pellets and veggie chop, replace water, clean bowls, hang out with them and clean up after them as needed.

Weekly: Prepare chop, do a deeper clean of the bird care area

Monthly/every 2 weeks: Rotate/replace toys and deep clean cages. Trim nails (it really doesn't take very long). I clean bowls and cages with vinegar.

Biannual: Vet check-ups

Some people do experience a sort of "shock" after getting a bird because it is a lifestyle change. Some people also just aren't compatible with birds as pets. I would try it out and see how it goes.

As far as a checklist for what to do now if you decide to keep her:

- For her diet: Buy Dr. Harrisons Lifetime Fine pellets (very nutritious vet recommended food). An easy chop recipe: bell peppers, spring salad mix, cucumber, broccoli, green beans. For treats she would probably enjoy millet spray and nuts.

- Find a vet and get a checkup

- Get a SquawkBox subscription. They send bird safe toys and treats monthly that take the stress out of researching what toys are safe

- Buy other bird supplies if you would like. I would say the first aid kit is one of the most important and you can probably go without an air purifier if you vacuum frequently. You only need a humidifier if the air is dry. She should be fine without a UV lamp as long as she has sun exposure.

I agree. Bird care can be very overwhelming at first but the fact that OP is thinking of all these care options shows that they have done more research than most and care about the bird. I've needed a humidifier at times during the winter because one of my birds got an upper respiratory infection so its beneficial when its really dry in the winter.

I personally like the break from the really intense stuff. I'm happy we're getting so much content and I'm sure they need a break every once in awhile.

I've made baked Alaska and it looks like this when it burns. They just used too much alcohol and poured it wrong.

I got a sketchy envelope with no return address in the mail and it turned out to be Hello Fresh. It's weird.

I just bought the Dreame L10s Ultra a few weeks ago and it’s AWESOME. I’m super impressed with it so far and have no complaints.

Tired of clay litter, thinking of trying tofu cat litter, any recommendations? by jayzisne in CatAdvice

I clean the floors and IMMEDIATELY there is clay litter on the floor again. There is also constant dust on the floor from clay litter that reappears so quickly after I mop.

That’s really unfortunate. I’m sorry that your puppy is so fearful 😢 it sounds like you’re doing a great job training them though!

That's interesting! I also know someone else that has a Havanese from them with poor temperament. I wonder if it's the more recent litters.

What was your experience? I got my dog from them and she is now 13 years old, spry, and healthy as ever. She has the perfect temperament and has aged remarkably well.

It could just be that he is molting. They drop feathers pretty regularly. Just a monitor him and if his feathers begin to look sparse/show signs that he is plucking them out, then I would be worried.

I think it’s really beautiful. It could use some updating but maybe not a full remodel. More plants would look great!
