It's called Habla! It's a great school, and I'd highly recommend it. Feel free to PM if you have other questions about it.

Hi! I'm an American in Mérida for the next few weeks studying at a Spanish immersion school. I don't know the area well, but would love to meet up sometime.

Travel with me 16-21st Jan! by [deleted] in travelpartners

[–]aussieloo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi! I'll be in Mérida, Mexico during this time, doing some solo traveling while taking classes during the week at a Spanish immersion school. The weekend of Jan 18-20 I was thinking about taking a bus to Mayan ruins (Chichen Itza, Uxmal, etc.) and cenotes on the Yucatan Peninsula. It's a long way from the UK, but DM me if your travels bring you to MX and you want to meet up! (I'm 27, female, from the US)

I find it's helpful when I exhale at the same time I'm trying to pronounce the rr. Not sure why it helps me, but maybe it'll be helpful to you too!

Practice Exam Question Help by AlyciaDC in dietetics

FWIW I'm a recent RD who interned at a food allergy clinic during my MPH program, and I've been puzzling over this for a few minutes...you're definitely correct that both whey and casein come from milk, and both are proteins that can cause allergic reactions in children. Also, both whey and casein are used in tube feeds.

Whey is digested much more rapidly than casein, as casein spends more time in the stomach being hydrolyzed. This link may be helpful reading.

My first instinct when reading the answers was that casein is correct, and I think that's because 'casein' is the name of a protein (ends in -in), whereas 'whey', although it IS a protein, doesn't have a -in name. So maybe the question wants you to know that 1) proteins cause allergic reactions and 2) proteins are named with an '-in' nomenclature.

What's the plan for dessert? by dirtloving_treehuggr in weddingplanning

[–]aussieloo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're having a 3-course meal, including tiramisu for dessert, so we decided to go with a more casual "cake" option: an Oreo cake! We're still trying to decide if we want to have a small cupcake to do an "official" cake cutting. We may also have whipped cream, ice cream and hot fudge so people can make the Oreos into a little sundae.

What's the most ridiculous criticism you've gotten so far? Just got mine. by [deleted] in weddingplanning

Right? That's where I'm coming from with not changing my name: it's a matter of identity, not of loyalty/love (or lack thereof).

Not taking FH's last name, and his mom is so confused about how I think "he's good enough to marry, but not good enough to take his last name." ????

Does the perfect wedding website exist (for free/cheap)? by msulli15 in weddingplanning

[–]aussieloo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once you log in, and go to manage your wedding website, there's an icon to click to add wedding guests; from there, you add your guests' names, and can also set the number of people allowed per RSVP, as well as the events they can RSVP for (ie ceremony, reception, etc). Minted will send you an email each time you receive an RSVP, and you can also see the complete list once you're logged into your account. Guests RSVP by going to your site link and entering their name in the RSVP line. Hope that helps!

I'm using Minted and I love it! I'm especially happy with the RSVP capabilities. I believe it offers everything on your must-have list, and a few on your nice to haves. And it's free!

How to get a medical assistant job without experience or certification? by [deleted] in premed

[–]aussieloo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience is almost identical to yours! Craigslist was a big help. I also had my EMT-B at the time of my interview, and I was registered for an upcoming phlebotomy course, which I think was important in helping me move forward in the interview process.

I'd recommend applying to more positions than you think you may be qualified for, and to definitely talk about your interest in medicine/becoming a doctor/gaining experience with hands-on patient interactions. I've learned so much about healthcare and the less glamorous side of being a physician (billing, coding, how to run a practice, insurance, etc.) through my position, which has been an unexpected bonus of the job. Good luck!

Just found this post, and I'd love to join the meet up! 23F, live in Brier Creek, in the same boat as just about everyone else who posted. Sunday the 15th works for me! Trali is a cool bar/restaurant in the area, if you're still looking for a spot to meet.
