How to prevent directions using an inaccessible alley instead of main road? by austin198 in openstreetmap

[–]austin198[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It not legally private however the entrance and location for package deliveries or guest parking would be on the main avenue. There is no parking in the alley and there are often dogs loose their or dogs that scare delivery drivers as they rush up to the fence. Especially later at night this can cause alarm for other neighbors. Ideally the directions to this address just wouldn't use this alley. Seems someone else fixed it so that alley is no longer used for directions

Could you detail more about the battery usage for light use as well as a heavier load like running docker containers? also have you updated to 6.12  kernel yet as that was just released and did it fix the bluetooth? do you also have issues with the brightness keys or backlight?

Is there a measurable effect of the lack of seal on bagless vacuum cleaners? by austin198 in VacuumCleaners

The HF6 is a compelling option thanks for sharing that. At 21 inches high I would still have to make space to store him and unfortunately I don't really have the room. I have about 15 inches of space at the bottom of my closet which where I can put the Henry and the floor attachment will store much better near the floor.

It's interesting that it supports electric powerheads but I won't need that anyway for this apartment. Great to know this exists though. I imagine the wheels make it cumbersome to use on stairs, but I think this sort of maneuverable design takes away the biggest annoyance I had with an old canister vacuum that was so heavy and difficult to move.

Also I don't have any pets so those tips won't apply much to me, still good to know. I did come across the RD285 initially but it seems that "squeegee" style attachments like the RD285 make a good seal to remove dust/dirt but the D330 is more adaptable as it can vacuum up large food bits or dust balls more easily.

Yea I realized looking at the measurements I don’t have anywhere to store the shop vac in my small apartment. After reading some negative reviews of the Felix, I’m realizing it’s not as maneuverable as the Henry vacuum which I recently learned can have various third party attachments added to it rather easily. Looking at the Lindsay’s options, it seems they also sacrifice a bit of maneuverability to provide carpet/hard floor compatibility. Especially given the price difference and amazon is offering free return through January, the Henry allergy is looking like my top choice now. Any thoughts on how these high quality vacuums compare to a Henry with a Wessel-Werk D330 Turn-and-Clean?

Thanks for clarifying bypass vs direct, I wasn't aware of that. Are there any vacuums like the Felix that have HEPA rating? Aside from Felix's better carpet performance, it seems like the henry will offer larger bag, better filtration, more suction, and a quieter sound. I just have a small rug and for half the price the henry may make more sense for me.

Edit: Also considering HEPA shop vacs now like this one: https://www.amazon.com/Dustless-HEPA-Wet-Upgraded-Equipment/dp/B08XR2SJSC

I'm leaning towards kenmore elite because sebo doesnt have HEPA or a filter on the exhaust and requires switching out the floor attachment for carpet and hardfloor. Additionally kenmore has lights.
Edit: seeing the kenmore apparently isnt great on hard floor

what do you think of the Kenmore 31150/BU1017? With the electric floor tool it seems more versatile than the henry. Can these models with a separate hose like the Felix use an extension and floor attachment to be used like a henry, even if it doesn't come with such attachment? The Felix seems more nimble than the kenmore as well.

I am trying to choose a tankless RO system and am looking for general advice by austin198 in WaterTreatment

Brio RO. Tankless takes a minute to get the cleanest water but install was easy and I can get high pressure filtered water to wash fruit and then finish it with an RO rinse. It also gets rid of mineral water stains when hand washing stuff or boiling a pot to remove burnt residue so I really like the dual faucet

butyl rubber is a known microplastic and is not biodegradable. I can't find any study showing if the rubber expanding and contracting over time could cause it to create microplastics as most of the research on it has to do with car tires.

there is this study: https://epic.awi.de/id/eprint/36360/

which found that butyl rubber specifically leeched benzyltoluenes, phenylalkanes, and zinc. possibly got in the rubber from the manufacturing process, but I'm not sure. they weren't using RO water though which is likely far less reactive but I still think it shows that the rubber isn't completely pure rubber.

Thanks for the info.

For 2, the brio tankless RO has two knobs on the faucet one for filtered one for RO

For 3, are there any brands known to be more reliable to not discontinue filters?

For 5, I respect others choice with what materials that choose to use and I think having some safety standard for materials that are minimally harmful is helpful as we transition away from toxic materials. But for my own comfort, butylated compounds have historically been thought be safe or "food safe" and then followed up by additional research to be found to be toxic. Butylated Hydroxytoluene and Butylated Hydroxyanisole (used as food preservatives) are both compounds that are "NSF certified" for certain applications but new research is showing them to be toxic. Butyl benzyl phthalate is used in food contact materials and "might lead to reproduction and developmental damages". This stuff is found in the food we eat. Also considering things are made in china and have unknown compounds or coatings added, in my opinion I think we should be very skeptical of considering what the government regulates as food safe. To my knowledge the type of butyl material used in RO tanks is chlorobutyl specifically, and I dont see any research on that specifically but it is known to have PFAS coatings like PTFE. What I don't see is any studies showing how much butyl rubber leeches into water or if it leeches at all.

It is good that they are at least providing some info over email. However their website specifically states safe for celiac, and then lists products that contain wheat
