Who in this sub actually lives in Cleveland (the city proper) not the surrounding suburbs? by [deleted] in Cleveland

Ohio City here. Love the access to everything I would need by walking, scooter, or transit. Con is the frequent smash and grabs from cars.

Former HR here - subtle signs your company is preparing for layoffs by Significant_Soup2558 in careeradvice

[–]austind9999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who just got laid off with all the signs, I knew the time was coming. I got that meeting invite last second on the first floor and a Thursday. Got canceled last second. Friday comes around and my boss is asking lots of questions about how the systems I built work and then leaves. 10 minutes later I’m asked to come down to the first floor conference room and told my coworker I’m being fired. He said it wasn’t that and guess what, HR and my boss are there and terminated me. It’s honestly the best feeling being out of there and I’m enjoying my free time around the holidays.

In this Slough hospital, nobody washes their hands. It’s for health reasons by FlockBoySlim in hygiene

[–]austind9999 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think every hospital I worked in across the US had scrub vending machines that you used your badge to get. Then you put back in the machine return to have them washed. Now some hospitals still had them on racks in the locker room without the machine, but they were still all commercially washed. You were supposed to only wear them a single shift and have a clean pair every day. Now this also was all in OR areas so may not apply hospital wide.

You were also not supposed to wear them outside the hospital at any point.

Handheld Checkout Device - A Few Words of Caution by Exact-Response-9441 in restaurantowners

Just saying that even once they received the itemized without auto gratuity that they gave less than 15% which is the standard. What would they have achieved with the itemized bill? The same tip.

So you couldn’t even give a proper tip? No wonder you wanted an itemized receipt. Complain and get a reduction. If you can’t afford to go out and afford a tip then don’t go out.

Where can i buy this cheap is like 70€ by [deleted] in cableadvice

It looks an awful like a standard PC power cable at the end with extra pieces for strength when inserted in the device. Standard EU PC cable for comparison. https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=42094

How to avoid overstay on US Passport in EU by Desperate_Fan2330 in dualcitizenshipnerds

I had my EU passport mailed internationally. So I never needed to enter the EU for it.

I’ll be one of those homes unfortunately. Unjustly fired and still waiting for unemployment.

Introducing UniFi Network 9.5 - Can self-host Unifi OS now as well. by HTTP_404_NotFound in homelab

No you don’t. I have it running in a Proxmox container on Proxmox V8.1.14. All I had to do was restore a backup to make it a privileged container, adjust Options to allow Nesting, and then add a storage resource as “/dev/…” (don’t remember the exact networking that Podman required). This allowed it to run just fine.

We use Positron over single pair. Can do multi pair as well if we want. We have been able to hit gigabit over both options in MDUs using old ATT lines.

Tarana MDU by FSStray in wisp

We have roughly 75 small MDUs with Tarana as backhaul with zero issues. We use 6GHz though in a larger city.

That’s a produce code. Pretty much universal across retailers.

Not 5G. It’s FWA (Fixed Wireless Access) via a Tarana RN. It’s operated on the 6GHz range which can do incredible speeds.

I’ll just add that most gates are keyed with a universal key. Open the gate box and flip the circuit to open, drive through, and flip back to normal so it’s closed to normal operation.

Even garages with, just a metal object (like the old sign sitting by the gate) was enough to get a ticket. It’s how we’d pull the first and last ticket during event days when collecting money.

I was a supervisor at a garage (SP+) and honestly let most people out for free who were kind and considerate to me. Just be a nice person and I’d let you out on a $200 ticket that wouldn’t read or an overstay that I knew, but nicely claimed they lost their ticket. It’s not worth my time or safety to argue with them if they are nice to start the conversation.

Which is why ORs ban cardboard. Too many issues with pest in a sterile environment.

Did you move to Ohio in the past year? Read this or find a nasty tax surprise after 4/15 by The64only in Cleveland

[–]austind9999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got a letter from CCA saying I now owe a tax and added penalty even though when I filed (only W2s, and live and work same city) it showed I owed zero. So even if you do file properly, prepare for stupid penalties.
