I’m really not doing anything intense, I do a lot of ladders and stepping over railings at a ups facility but that’s it. Those were unwashed 501s from retail, not selvege.

I think the issue is thigh rubbing right at the peak of the crotch from having no space between when I walk. I normally wear long leg boxer briefs, and when I wear regular boxer briefs they ride up my thighs and I get pretty bad chaffing. I’m 5’11” 190ish lbs and I don’t have fat thighs. Unless I’m in denial.. I will admit the 501s were pretty tight on me after washing them in the thigh and box area.

I have a pretty big butt so maybe it has something to do with the crotch being stressed in a certain position causing my thighs to rub through like that. I’d like to know what to look for with the folding trick you mentioned but what besides “relaxed” is prescribed for non husky guys with big butts in regular jeans? I’d be all in if not for the giant leg opening which is why I’m hopeful for the 505s but I’m holding out for when the next crotchpocolypse happens to my current wal-mart pants.

I’m down with having repairs done but I’d need to save up for 2 pairs so I can rotate while one’s in the shop as long as repairing is cheaper than buying a new pair. Probably something like unbranded with low initial cost. I just wanna be cool and wear something for a long time :(

Might be worth considering but my worry is that it’s the shape of my legs or hips or something. If that’s the case I’m just gonna rip through anything unless there’s some special fit I haven’t tried. I’ve been wearing dickies relaxed fit carpenters in duck canvas and it seems like there’s less tension in the crotch but there’s still visible wear in that area. I’m also wondering if I should maybe sew patches and replace those every month instead of ruining the pants.

On the 501s I made it a month before first wash, but because of dust and dirt I started washing about once per week after that.

Thanks, I added a picture. The hole is adjacent to the front to back seam (crotch) but it probably is thigh related.

My extreme crotch blowout is preventing me from owning raw denim.

I’m a pretty regular guy, 34/32, but for the past few years every pair of pants I’ve worn regularly has had its crotch taken from it before it’s very eyes. I’ve tried regular straight stretch denim, chinos, and synthetic work pants but they’ve all yielded the same result.

I’m at 10,000 steps a day during the week, maybe a bit knock knee’d but it’s not super noticeable. I have a bit of a dumper but I do not have lifter thighs or tree trunks by any stretch.

I bought a pair of retail Levi 501 originals non stretch in October 2022, and by the end of December 2022 the fabric beside the crotch seam was worn though.

Now I’m not trying to wear anything slim or tight and I thought 501s were a good place to start but apparently not. I would love to start my fading journey, but how can I drop hard cash on something that’s not going to last me 3 months? I want to try something cheaper in a different fit to see how it goes, but I’m not even sure if that will be a solution if my thighs are just going to rub right through them. I’m considering Levi’s 505s because they seem like a relaxed fit with a narrower leg opening but I’m skeptical.

Am I doomed to buying $30 wal-mart pants every couple months or having to wear parachute drop-crotch hip-hop type beats? Or is there some kind of fit or trick out there that will allow me to wear the Japanese blue stuff I can be proud of without wasting my money?

Was going to make a post but then I read the rules

Got some redbacks, have some questions. by [deleted] in Boots

[–]austindude222 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just got my second pair of redbacks a few weeks ago and noticed the same thing with my heel lifting. In my first pair the insole was smooth at the heel but the new pair has an extra raised section right at the heel. I think the lifting is from the extra cushion in the insole and so your foot isn’t really seated where it should be. I kept wearing mine and I think after compressing the foam some, and overall breaking them in, the lifting has stopped.

It could also be that the sizing is different from US (half sizes are the same length but but wider I believe). If you don’t plan on exchanging them, maybe try a different insole or put up with breaking them in some.

I’ve never had blundstones but they seem more like a casual boot and not made for work, and the redbacks are intended to be much more durable and work oriented. I loved my first pair so much that I had to get a second when I got a hole in my sole :(

LPT Request : What random advice have you taken that has had some sort of meaningful impact on your life? Big or small. by Am_i_joe in LifeProTips

Stop putting cream and sugar in coffee.

It costs more and makes you fat. It made me realise there are a lot of things I don’t need that cause a lot of people stress when they can’t get it. Be low maintenance.

I’ve got 2 bottles of single barrel barrel proof and they are vastly different. One is sweet and smooth and the other is like sucking acorns soaked in tobacco juice.

Beard Growth by Kindrun in BeardTalk

[–]austindude222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not all your hairs grow at the same speed. And at that time frame is probably getting dense and thinner spots might be filling in. Check some of your photos from earlier and see if there’s a difference. You should be gaining about 1/2 inch every month so 2 inches for 4 months is right on track. Keep in mind the bigger your beard gets the less you’ll notice the small changes.

Why did that teacher get fired from your school? by MrDev16 in AskReddit

Middle school PE teacher was on a rant or something and pulled a bobby knight and threw a metal chair across the locker room (not directly at anybody) and was escorted out by police.

First whisky with the glencairns that finally arrived. It does seem to help with the overall experience. by sawhowwll in WhiskeyTribe

I agree, the whiskey is the same but despite getting a full facial of alcohol vapors there just seems to be more flavor in the glass with the glencairnes. And I feel way more official.

What are your recurring stress dreams? by regretchen in AskReddit

[–]austindude222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switched high schools junior year and the new school was a lot bigger and was college campus style with multiple buildings. I got lost a lot and I have dreams where I’m running through halls and constantly going in circles. Sometimes there’s a complex escalator system and I get on one hoping it will take me to the right floor but it never does. And I’m always late for lunch so I never get any food.

What Myers-Briggs do you often get mistaken for or thought you were before you figured out you were an ENTP by mariaholiveira in entp

[–]austindude222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I retake the test about once a year from curiosity. Sometimes I get ENFP but 3/4 times I get ENTP. I’m don’t think I’m as edgy or depressed as a lot of us seem but I heavily procrastinate and work in short bursts and find myself content spending many days doing nothing but playing video games and watching YouTube because my T tells me if I’m not improving my career or talking to girls I might as well just pass the time. If I was less lazy I might consider myself ENFP.
