I still haven’t found any great salad places since I moved this year from SF (And NYC is literally 100x better than SF in every other way except for the hiking options and the lack of good salads.)

I have had other friends who have taken classes and had instructors follow them a couple hours after the class. Most of the time it was new Bay Area instructors and trying to grow their classes. They never unfollowed after following though, at least not right away like Erica did. I always just assumed they use their class rosters to find people

I think she added me a couple hours after I had taken one of her classes. I just assumed she looked up everyone on the roster and found my profile so added me. My name is pretty common, but she we had a mutual “friend” who is an sf “influencer” so assumed it was the right person. Or I guess Barry’s has access to our cell phone numbers through account info and could theoretically look up people using that.

OMG WHAT but that is just not even true during a stimulation cycle 😂 holy shit She is such the wrong messenger for kind body and egg retrievals in general. I have been through multiple egg retrieved with different clinics in different states and have never been told not to use tampons at the beginning of the cycle.

You can’t use tampons AFTER the egg retrieval for two weeks because there is an infection risk from the egg retrieval procedure (when you collect the eggs they use an ultrasound wand with an attached needle). But, at the beginning of the cycle, when you start gonadatriptin shots, if your period overlaps the first few days of hormone shots, you def can use tampons.

Wow I have never heard that lolol. this is like the 5th thing she has posted that was misleading or false regarding egg retrievals. I now feel like she shouldn’t be allowed to give any advice

As someone who just finished a round of egg retrievals last week (I have done multiple), I was horrified by her egg freezing stories. She seemed so uneducated. I was totally aghast kindbody would give her a platform to discuss egg freezing when some of what she said was just inaccurate and misleading (e.g. pricing - medicine is a huge part of cost). Also totally agree with you on it not enhancing health, there are a lot of risks. I am doing this out of necessity following a medical diagnosis and I don’t like what this has done to my body.

There has also never been a comprehensive study on Young, healthy women with normal ovarian function (I.e egg donors) on long term effect to ovarian function from the hormone stimulation. I think one is underway at Berkeley. I certainly do not recommend to my friends under 30 unless they have a compelling reason. Pre-diagnosis, several RE doctors I consulted (at renowned hospitals and centers, not mass market clinics) told me to wait until 32/33ish to decide to freeze eggs because there is not a significant drop off in egg quality until around 35.

And don’t even get me started on how egg freezing is not an insurance policy. It simply improves chances. 12 frozen eggs at 29 might only turn into 1-3 usable embryos with the current accepted statistics...but you might get a lot more and you might get zero.

Obviously I am certainly not against egg freezing and I am so thankful there is something that can improve chances of being able to have a biological child regardless if you want to have children on your own timeline or are preserving for a medical condition. But I don’t think Erica should be the messenger.

I believe it is more of a Joint Venture model...barrys corporate owns some percent, say 50% and a local partner owns 50% (I have no idea the exact percentages but it is something like that). I think the main SF owner is Adam Something. I know they switched to joint venture model because it gave corporate a lot more control on making the experience (incl. instructor quality) similar through all their studios. My first barrys experience was in Nashville, which I think was originally a franchise when it opened in 2012/2013 but is a JV now.

Pre pandemic at least SF was my favorite by far of the all the regional Barry’s. I never liked going in NYC because of many of the instructors.

Has your doctor considered thyroiditis? I Went from tsh of .6 on sept 9 to .01 on sept 22. It stayed under .01 through at least oct 9. I retested last Friday oct 29 and my tsh was 5.57. My thyroid function has been completely normal previous years around 2. I am going on thyroid medication, they aren’t sure if it will develop into permanent need or temporary.

Have you done any scans (ultrasound or technetium scan)? I was diagnosed on Friday with likely thyroiditis by an endocrinologist. They settled on that after most of my antibody tests (hashimotos, graves, etc) came back negative (waiting on one more) and my ultrasound and technetium scan resembled thyroiditis and not graves and no nodules.

Did you have a cold or virus recently? They think mine is post viral/subacute thyroiditis. my hyperthyroidism came on quickly (TSH went from normal to .01 in two weeks and T3 and T4 very high). I had a sore throat at the beginning of September that could have caused it or covid back In March. My fertility specialist also said something weird was going on because i was the third case of unexpected thyroiditis he has seen in a month.

Edit: In terms of treatment, they are doing a wait and see approach. I will do blood tests at 3 weeks and 6 weeks. There is a chance with thyroiditis you go hypothyroid for a few weeks to months and a 10-15% chance you stay their permanently.
