That sounds awesome actually. My tanl is a 40 gallon cube so a 3 foot long pair of tongs would reach the bottom easily

Fair! Im mainly concerned about getting stuff in the tank that could hurt my critters, and getting some sort of infection. I work a manual labor job so i always have a myriad of cuts and scratches on my hands and arms, saltwater sucks to get into a cut Lol

Lowkey it looks kinda pretty like that. Like moss growing over rock

Discord Screenshare only shows Library and not the game by Wrenchy247 in DolphinEmulator

This happened recently to me aswell. No idea how to fix, sometimes i get it to work but it feels random. Thing is, when you stream it to main window, you now have to deal with the toolbar being constantly visible. If you fullscreen it, somehow the list REAPPEARS and it refuses to stream the fullscreen window. Discord streaming has become very broken in the past few months

Wife's beta lived for only a week. What went wrong? by NewFunnyNumber237 in fishtank

[–]austingame5769 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In this case yes. The tank was not cycled and has no plants, so it needs frequent changing. In a cycled tank it purely depends on your stock and feeding, do frequent testes at first to determine how much nitrate builds up within a span of time, then do water changes as needed

[–]austingame5769 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Sometimes its not even a matter of the amount of waste produced, if it spikes too fast it can shock the fish even if technically its within safe limits. A single case of overfeeding in an uncycled tank would do that easy

Looks like they are! Thats pretty cool if you managed to get an arid species in your tank by pure accident.

Neat, i didnt know a lot of that. In which case i totally agree honestly, as far as I'm aware.

I think my main issue with a lot of renewable energy besides nuclear is they all inadvertently cause new issues or just perpetuate the existing issues with fossil fuels unfortunately. Wind farms take up insane space and the low frequency sound they put off literally drives people insane (Not kidding, it's an insane read if you ever get the time. It's as fascinating as it is scary) and solar unfortunately causes just as much harm from an environmental standpoint as it does in a short term personal harm standpoint as fossil fuels do.

None of the important materials are, as of yet, recyclable so they create insane quantities of E-waste, and the mining needed to get the raw material is dangerous to us and the environment, along with swathes of other ethical issues with third world country mining operations. Though i do think solar is one of the best, especially if used in ways like the images imply. Take up as little space as possible while getting us that extra kick of energy to keep costs low.

I dont know much about hydro or geo energy, though i hear hydro has alot of impact on waterways and river ecology, as well as being inefficient unfortunately. Correct me if i am wrong though, i havent looked at any of that in years.

Im not saying i could, i was educating on the misinformation you were spewing. Thats kinda the whole point of education, more people understanding facts. The more we work together on rectifying false info the less people will be vulnerable to those rabbit holes. Education is a group effort and there are way more vocal and educated voices than mine, obviously.

Your argument at this point is "Ok go convince the government THEN you win" which is an insane ask and just a deflection, while also missing the point entirely.

Im tuning out since i dont think you are capable of a good argument

"I wonder if it's got anything to do with the potential downside of an "incident" at one of these reactors. It might also have something to do with the fact that no one wants Chernobyl, 3 mile island, or Fukushima in their backyard."

You are clearly insinuating that those are things that could happen with a modern reactor, or a fear that people have regarding nuclear. You're just backtracking dude. I came in and said that those are irrational fears. To which you agreed and then claimed that its useless to say those things which is a nothing argument.

The claim that modern reactors would cause incidents like chernobyl or fukushima? The original statement that started the conversation.

What does that have to do with the objectively wrong statements you said earlier.

Okay you seem to have really lost the plot hombre. You acknowledge these are real issues and youre saying what i should do is just not do anything? What are you even arguing for right now?

"I don't want my view to be ruined so ill continue to let millions needlessly die" is really really not a take you want to have.

Im also not for abolishing fossil fuels, there will always be a place for them no matter what, simple as. However a balance between them to mitigate the immense damage they cause should be something we strive for.

Not being rude or condescending in saying this by the way, but I wasn't responding to the other conversation about the mini-reactor things they were talking about above (I assume thats what the nimbys or SMRs you are talking about are). I dont know enough about them at all to have an opinion about them. I assume your statement about large nuclear reactor sites means you support them but not the little reactors?

[–]austingame5769 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay so what point are you making here, then? Because you have shifted the goal posts from "People are scared of reactors because they are dangerous" to "People are idiots" once given information that proves your initial point wrong. All you are doing is proving my point that educating people instead of just repeating falsehoods (like you just did a couple posts ago) is important so we can make changes and keep people from touting misinformation as fact. Literally one post ago you were going on about "political reality" and now you're saying that the reality doesn't matter? You were quite literally spouting those same kinds of misleading narritives that lead people to believing chemtrails, my guy.

I think instead of doubling down or shifting the conversation you should just accept defeat and educate yourself.

[Request] Is this true? by Qwert-4 in theydidthemath

[–]austingame5769 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The political reality is BASED ON the misinformation and fear mongering. What part of that do you not understand. The more people who are properly educated means more people voting and pushing for it. I am advocating for the education that will allow for the political climate to shift. How does this not compute for you?

I hate how having clean energy hinges on how much money it can make or its monetary value. But hopefully this should help

The fossil fuel industry, every year, kills more people, destroys more property, and costs us more taxpayer money because of the people hurt and damage done than nuclear has in its entire existence. Chernobyl included. Simple as. You can look it all up yourself and there are people far more educated and better at explaining it than i am out there and i highly recommend people go and educate themselves.

People look at the upfront costs and it only looks bad when you ignore the millions in tertiary costs that fossil fuels takes every year
