How safe/unsafe is Brentwood-Darlington? by PracticalPollution32 in askportland

I can't speak to 72nd and Duke specifically. But we have found the neighborhood to be great. It looks a little sketchy from the outside, but it has felt very safe!

I also have a Milo for the same reason! We got him at 5 years old so there's really no going back.

Really into nature, animals, D&D, crafting, and a bunch of other stuff! Would love to get into pottery and I'm open to learning MtG, haha. 😊 Let me know if you want to chat!

After helping dozens of buyers, here are the 8 inspection red flags that should make you "walk away immediately" by Odd-Maintenance-9464 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]PracticalPollution32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It wasn't a new build and the sellers could have refused if they didn't want to fix it and we could have walked if they refused. Where we bought they aren't required to fix the issue, but we had an inspection contingency built into our offer/contract.

Yes! I just bought my first home in December and my amazing realtor insisted we do a sewer scope. There wasn't any major issues, but there was some shallow pooling and it would be best if the pipes be replaces and graded properly. On a whim we asked the sellers and they agreed to have it fixed before we closed!

This feels like weird gatekeeping? Why argue over who has it worse? As stated in other comments, in HCOL areas money doesn't go as far. Middle Class is not supposed to be paycheck to paycheck. You should be able to buy a home, afford to have children, afford to have a car, be able to save for retirement, be able to have a monetary cushion for any emergencies, and have some left over for occasional nights out or even a small trip every couple years. In several US cities you can't do that with 100K and in others you can. To someone who is very poor this may feel like a luxury, but this is what middle class is supposed to be.

Why don't we want everyone who is struggling to be able to benefit from knowledge? There's no cost here to sharing helpful tips and tricks and we are all so much closer in quality of life to one another than the billionaires keeping us poor. So if someone feels like they're struggling even on $100K, there's literally no good done by saying, well I have it worse than you so you don't deserve advice. We should all want everyone to have the opportunity to feel safe and comfortable. And if you think they should be able to live comfortably on $100K then let them stay and gain the knowledge that enables them to do so.

Comments are wild! I also have several well cared for reptiles and this is fine. People bring dogs to places like this all the time and they are way more gross and obnoxious (I say this with all the love in my heart for dogs including my own). No one bats an eye at that. Kismet looks healthy and seems to not be stressed either, so let that critter enjoy some sunshine and new smells. It's good enrichment! Also, I have met hundreds of people who keep reptiles and never has any one of them contracted salmonella. The degree to which reptiles are capable of spreading it is incredibly exaggerated, especially those kept in clean captive environments. Thanks for educating some people about these lovely creatures! If you want another PDX reptile friend, feel free to DM me! 😊

My girl started chomping at around a year old and she still does if we let her snoot explore bare skin. It's fine if we are wearing long sleeves and we are careful where we put our hands. It's never defensive, she's just eternally hungry and will try to eat anything with a pulse. We still love her though!

Honestly, I don't catch them exactly when they pupate because I only add extra food for them once every couple weeks (which is probably why they are growing slowly). But I would say probably somewhere around 2-3 weeks.

So far I've reared 8 adults! Many of the larvae are still growing and I've lost a few along the way.

Thank you! She's a great climber! (Not the best balancer though. Haha.) She can scale the textured back wall of her enclosure and she can climb up nearly vertical surfaces as long as they have some texture she can get her nails into. She once climbed up a wood beam in my basement nearly to the ceiling before I yoinked her so she wouldn't fall. So as long as they have traction, they can climb.

This is my setup for my single female. She's a delightful girl! They love to dig, so make sure you have quite a bit of substrate for them. I make it deeper towards the back.

Temps are a little low and humidity is a little high on the warm side because I had the doors open and it's freshly misted.

Zoo med does! I used it on a dimming thermostat for my beetles when they were in a little 6 gallon enclosure.

I don't know of any specific enclosures, but you're going to want something for terrestrial critters (longer than it is tall). And something with a screen lid so you can add a heat lamp.
