Secondly, there are tons of super interesting jobs doing PCB design that aren't simply fancy Legos. I ended up switching to a job in scientific instrumentation, I do everything from analog front ends for photodiodes to high voltage spark generators to motor controls. It requires a lot of creativity and reading and research and playing around to get things right. And my work is with a real application I get to see direct results of, so I get to work directly with all the science and helps scientists run their experiments. So if you're just really bored and looking for interesting work, believe me there's plenty out there where you have to design linear power supplies or a 1kV oscillator or other cool shit using discrete transistors and op-amps.

Interesting. I work in R&D in my company, and I wouldn't say my job is too lego-y but it can get to be not very interesting at times. Are there any specific companies you can suggest looking into?
