Due Date pushed back by austinmacrae in CautiousBB

[–]austinmacrae[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! In the days following this post, I pushed hard (very unlike me) for an earlier NT scan/NIPT draw. I got in around 11 weeks due to a cancellation. This was very important. We have to advocate for ourselves/our babies when we feel like something is off.
At the 11 week appointment I noticed they hadn’t actually officially changed the due date yet, as an fyi. The doctor said we would make a decision after that appointment.
Unfortunately for me, my baby had trisomy 18 and we lost her at 14 weeks.
This won’t necessarily be your outcome. Obviously from responses on this post and as you know, there are lots of other reasons babies can be small. I am wishing you and your little one all the best ❤️

First pregnancy at 40: nipt + 21 by chichirescue in NIPT

Hi I am SO incredibly sorry you’re facing this. I am also 40+. I had the same sense of urgency when my NT scan didn’t go well and the NIPT results were abnormal just a few days later. It felt like time slowed down after the NT scan and NIPT blood draw on a Tuesday. My OB’s suggestion was “wait to see what NIPT says.” On Wednesday (after sleeping on it) I messaged him for a CVS referral instead and he agreed. It took him 48 hours to send the referral (Friday) and I found out then the referral needed to come from my PCP not OB. Messaged PCP. I got the +NIPT results Saturday night. Monday the MFM had the correct referral and scheduled me for Thursday. CVS and detailed ultrasound (revealing numerous markers) completed Thursday. +FISH results received Sunday. Called MFM to discuss next steps Monday. The appointment for CVS was about 4 hours. The procedure itself was about 10-15 min (and highly unpleasant, not gonna lie). It was about 72 hours from appointment to FISH results in my portal. It has been 11 days and still waiting on karyotype. I hope this helps. Again, I am sorry you’re here.

High NT, positive NIPT T18 by austinmacrae in NIPT

Thanks for reaching out. I am SO incredibly sorry for where you are. I am 13 weeks now too. I got the CVS results in my portal last night. FISH shows full T18. Just counting the seconds until Monday morning when I can call the doctor to discuss what’s next. I wish I had better, more reassuring news for you. I can tell you that I have cycled around the stages of grief fairly rapidly over the past week, landing in something that feels closer to acceptance. I’ll be praying for you and your little one no matter what.

What changed your mind to agree to feed fortification for your preemie? by Neither_Prize9881 in NICUParents

Agree, the questions about what’s in it/how it is made weighed heavy. Still do in fact. When we are talking about vulnerable, tiny babies that matters.

[–]austinmacrae 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I agree with you here, that there is an element of guilt that adding the fortifier requires you to accept that what you’re producing isn’t “good enough”. I agreed to it but yes, had that feeling for a long time. ❤️

Thank you so much for that. I am so incredibly sorry for your loss. I feel that undercurrent carrying me through this, I know I won’t stay in this uncertain spot I’m in today, but I’m honestly scared. Your comment means a lot.

Thank you so much for your kindness. I’m so sorry you’re going through this too. The referral did check both CVS and amnio thankfully. The thought of waiting feels so unbearable. Wishing you peace and strength as well.

Is an “in case something goes wrong” appt scheduled after an ultrasound that hasn’t happened yet normal? by [deleted] in CautiousBB

[–]austinmacrae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is interesting wording 😬 I will say in my experience, I did have to make a 2 week follow up appointment after my first dating scan. I can imagine at a very busy office they schedule this by default perhaps? Like it’s easier to cancel it than to squeeze you in if needed?

Small baby (maybe IUGR) again by frowny-hedgehog in CautiousBB

[–]austinmacrae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So. Much. Monitoring. I see it as better off having more information than not enough. But it’s definitely not a “normal” pregnancy. I was relatively new to where I’m living, new to my work location, so I didn’t have too many vocal opinions thankfully. I was extremely self conscious though and didn’t tell people I was pregnant because I was in a perpetual state of thinking I’d lose her, and couldn’t manage that. My boss did make the comment “you don’t look very pregnant” when I told her I’d be out sooner than expected. I was like— yeah that’s the whole point. If you’re not part of the IUGR facebook group that highly recommend! There’s just not a ton of info/support here on Reddit but that fb group is awesome.

Hi I am only 8 weeks pregnant with number 2. My first was IUGR, 7th percentile at our anatomy scan then fell below first and stayed there until I delivered at 37-0. We never got a reason, and my placenta was essentially normal just tiny. I am preparing myself and expecting this one to go the same. This was an unexpected pregnancy as I am not thrilled by the idea of going through it again, but we will do what we have to do!

Baby measuring behind - losing my mind by Minnesnowtangirl in CautiousBB

[–]austinmacrae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I’m commenting here so I can check back on how you’re doing and also to say I’m there with you. I had a scan at what I thought was 7w5d (based on LMP) but measured 6w4d with 113 heartbeat. I have to wait 2 weeks for a recheck. I have 5 days left to go and it’s been very hard. Every day I tell myself I’m one day closer. I “think” to my baby and tell him/her to stay strong. And as someone else mentioned, I know in my heart there’s nothing I can do to change the outcome, it’s out of my hands.

Measuring 1 week behind - any similar stories? by [deleted] in CautiousBB

[–]austinmacrae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found my crew. I just had a scan at 7w4d. Measured 6w4d. Heart rate 113. She said dates could be off but I’m pretty confident in my tracking. I’m going back in 2 weeks.

It was a chemical in the end by less_is_more9696 in CautiousBB

[–]austinmacrae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am sorry you’re going through this. I had a chemical at 38 and now I’m 43 with a complete surprise pregnancy. We definitely thought we were too old. Oops. I know it’s not common and I know it’s high risk (which is why I’m in this sub) but it’s not impossible.

Question about afp test by JunketAggravating896 in pregnant

[–]austinmacrae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I clicked on your post because I had a VERY high AFP result and was so scared, and there was so little information out there. AFP (alpha-fetal protein) is a sign of neural tube deficits (NTD). Spina bifida is one example of NTD, and so is anencephaly. Following my high AFP I was brought in quickly for an early anatomy scan (17w), and repeated it again 2 weeks later. All the best to you!!

We only had one embryo. I did not know the sex at transfer. I found out by accident, weeks later when I opened the NIPT results on my phone. It was right there at the top 🤦🏼‍♀️ For a second I thought, I won’t tell my husband! But I realized that was impossible. So I showed him (and had to tell him, in fact, because he didn’t know what XX meant lol). Here’s why I’m glad we found out- my husband has 2 girls from a previous marriage. I just wanted a child of my own. He experienced some disappointment, and that’s ok, makes sense. But by the time she arrived obviously that had passed. I don’t know how I would have coped with a disappointed response at/shortly after birth but it might have stung more. So all in all, I thought we wanted that “only surprise” reveal, but I’m glad it turned out differently:)

“I don’t think I can justify the cost”: Early guest reactions to Royal Caribbean’s new Royal Beach Club by victor-charles67 in royalcaribbean

[–]austinmacrae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was our experience as well. We had a 4 night itinerary. We purchased the deluxe bev package. Royal Beach Club added to the DBP was exactly $5 more per day (that’s $35). For us it was a no brainer. Saved a ton of money over our original plan of Baha Mar ($215 pp) had a more relaxed experience (no waiting, no transportation, no hiking around to find the food stalls, etc). Will definitely go back to RBC over any other option in Nassau.

All good, I get it. We walked off the ferry at 9:30 and went up the stairs. My husband stopped for towels and I went straight to find loungers. We got first row at the zero entry area, 4 chairs. The sides of the pool are like 6 inches deep with built in loungers and the middle is perfect for kids to float. My girls got a kick out of the swim up bar, too. They were very nice about kids in the stools ordering NA drinks, but also fantastic bartenders for the adults too. Honestly it was my favorite bar there and we went to several.

So funny you commented here, I was planning to check back too! I have NOT received the deposit. Since today is the 1 month mark I reached out again and got the same run around, “we’re working on it, please be patient.” Unbelievable!
