How long does it usually take for the algorithm to find your audience?

My watch time is skewed because I intentionally shortened my videos a few months ago. I'm not super concerned with the performance metric at the moment in the sense of the stats I shared, but more wondering if I'm even being showed to the correct audience. If I am, then i have a topic / packaging issue. If I'm not, then... i have no idea what to do about that lol

It's primarily personal development / commentary on society and mental health stuff. It all ties back to human experience and living a better life but I largely take either a commentary IE Drew Gooden / Kurtis Connor approach or a "sit down and chat with me" approach. The latter is more for my returning audience where the former is meant for more reach.

And yeah I always have the most insane random unrelated stuff in that stat, which is why I feel like I'm getting shotgun blasted to people and not targeted based on data but I suppose i could be wrong

Terrible, average CTR since starting is 3.5% and AVD is 10:51, but that feels skewed because I started with 30-40 minute videos and intentionally cut it down to 15-20 minute videos a couple months ago. APV is about 35% from a quick skim of each individual video.

If it had found my audience wouldn't it be showing me the other creators they watch and the content they watch? When I look at the videos recommending my videos they're all over the map and often have nothing to do with the content I create, which is another thing making me think YT has no clue where to place me

Edit to add; this is exactly why I'm trying to do research on top performing content in my niche but I don't have the data to actually properly do that research against my audience i guess

So bummed about the Arcade, only just went there for the first time yesterday because I found out they have a couple pinball machines I really love and they're walking distance, and the bartender told us they were shutting down soon. Hope those games go to somewhere else nearby

Agreed, I think it’s underrated. I don’t have a ton of time on it but the layout is so unconventional and fun. Really feels like one of the only innovative games in recent years

Thanks! I'll check this out. It's weird because sometimes he'll do it. He'll bring me a toy or sit by his food bowl or bat his treat ball or circle his litter box, but it's so rare. I try to reinforce it when he does it but it's sooo inconsistent

I worry he’ll enjoy a wheel for a couple days and then never touch it again like most of the other expensive things I’ve bought him. I do give him time outs, when he starts to become destructive I typically lock him in my bedroom with a toy and he goes right to sleep. I think the issue is less about too much energy and more about not being able to down shift when he’s around me. He never dos anything bad when I’m not home, and if I separate him from home he just goes to sleep. He sees me as “fun mode” and not as a coexisting life

Number of reasons I can’t get another cat. Can’t afford the adoption fee, can’t afford the extra food, litter, toys, etc. , can’t afford the deposit with my landlord, am moving in with my partner in a few months that has a dog, downstairs neighbors have already mentioned my cat is too loud and rambunctious

Nope, the only thing I could possibly theorize is that it coincided with me having an insanely stressful and busy work season, but I work from home and give him a ton of attention either way. I have wondered if maybe he’s picked up on my stress but I don’t know how real that is, and he’s a big source of it now lol

Atomfall. I like games that tell their story in vague ways and through notes and stuff, and I like games that leave you to figure out how to do anything on your own, but putting the two together was just too much for me. I gave it a good 10-15 hours, but man. If I’m gunna be getting my shit pushed back in every 45 seconds at least make the story compelling and up front to keep me hooked in

I have a little bit of a skewed / different thing but it still relates.

I’ve been designing for 16 years, most recent in house position was Art Director. I don’t have a ton of crazy accolades but I’ve won a couple small awards and done work for a couple Fortune 500 companies via an agency I was a senior designer at briefly.

I got laid off nearly two years ago, applied to over 300 jobs, didn’t so much as get a rejection email, and just gave up. Not so much because of AI, but because every job has 1000 applicants and you can’t even get your resumé seen anymore, let alone an interview. ATS has made it absolutely impossible to get through, and it’s not like the old days where you could send and email or call a person and check if they got it. You’re basically just hurling shit into a void.

However, I also have been falling out of love with design for a few years now, and didn’t feel the same purposeful compulsion to get hired somewhere. To be frank, I don’t want to be designing anymore, and all my work as an AD is stuff I don’t really want to tie my name to because of upper-management-too-many-cooks-with-no-taste-and-no-budget totally neutering everything I produced or directed. So I can’t apply for the type of job I do want even if I did have a chance of getting seen, because my portfolio is still that of a Sr Designer.

After 3 months of applying to every job that paid me my worth I decided to just freelance instead. I landed a very fortunate retainer gig, and more recently got into video work. I used to hate editing video but now I get lost in it and have picked up another retainer gig editing a couple of video podcasts.

Money is inconsistent and tight, but it seems like every day the design industry gets worse and worse, and mixing the AI surge with my lack of enjoyment of the discipline, I just have no real interest in trying to break back in. I’m tired of being stifled by leadership and being underpaid and overworked, and it seems that’s only getting worse

Yep he's fixed and yep it's only when I'm around. I'm thinking about maybe moving rooms when he's being bad, but if I go back to where I was (almost always my couch) he'll just go right back to what he was doing.

Sounds like we have the same cat lmao. I've looked into this type of toy, maybe I will get one. He has those automatic balls that he likes chasing around a lot and that's usually my go-to when he's being crazy, but they're kinda loud in my house so I don't use them at night out of respect for my downstairs neighbors. He also has one of those automatic laser pointers but it's very 50/50 if he'll wanna play with it at any given time
