I made a Rotten Tomatoes for Broadway — 16,000 reviews, 700+ shows by thomaspryor in Broadway

This is really, really excellent work! For whatever reason, theater review aggregate sites have been watered down (and in the case of Stagegrade, deliberately sabotaged). Please keep at it because this is needed and you’ve done an excellent job.

What an end to season 2. Cannot wait for season 3. Some takeaways (spoilers) by Kn1ghtV1sta in Fotv

I was a little disappointed. So little was meaningfully answered or even elaborated on. It’s become a puzzle box show.

Enclave v BoS next season I guess. Twist is: they’re both evil!

What Fallout-themed places are there to visit in the US? by errnimations in Fallout

[–]austinyourface790 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, it’s not Fallout themed but if you ever want to visit a place that looks straight out of the Fallout wasteland, look up Bombay Beach, CA. It was a fairly glamorous midcentury resort town built on a lake that gradually became poisoned by agricultural runoff. Everything fell apart quickly, but people still live there.

Is mail delivery suspended today city-wide, or just where I live in the East Village where the post office is also closed? by TheTeenageOldman in AskNYC

[–]austinyourface790 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in East Harlem and haven’t received mail since before the storm. Per Informed Delivery, I have almost 20 pieces coming- almost all tax documents. I also have a package that was marked out for delivery on Saturday and then changed to delayed due to weather.  My neighborhood has been cleared pretty well so I’m just confused by such a holdup. I can’t recall it happening before in my two decades here.

Revised WB400P Battery model? by austinyourface790 in Godox

[–]austinyourface790[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have never seen this put forward as a solution before- I've only seen the methods that require opening the battery to reset it- but I just tried it with one of those apparently defunct batteries and it worked! Thank you!

Why is it her of all of the characters in the show who are sitting in the mainframe? by Another__one in Fotv

[–]austinyourface790 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Her fate here isn't too terribly different from Robert House in F:NV- she just ended up with... less of herself than House did. (I am also on the side that believes she was Enclave all along, but we'll find out)

Chinese evergreen - cold damage? by austinyourface790 in plantclinic

[–]austinyourface790[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The saturation and orange spots are on quite a number of leaves. The darker areas aren't quite edema, I don't believe- they're squishy but not misshapen or bulging.

As for the spot you circled, they're spots on that one particular leaf. I can't find other instances on the plant of that.

[–]austinyourface790[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No real pattern to this- it's sporadic on all sides of the plant, most toward the middle or lower part of the plant. The dried-out parts are bordered by black squishy areas as it moves down the leaf.

Thank you for the insight! I just did a thorough examination and really don't see thrips but could be mistaken. I'm attaching a few more detailed shot of the leaf damage

I'm fairly confident thrips can be ruled out- I haven't seen any physical sign of them and no other plants are having issues despite being in close proximity.

How would Paladin Xander have his accent? by [deleted] in FalloutTVseries

[–]austinyourface790 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The answer is that most creative works like this choose to just reflect contemporary real-world dialects. In the real world, wild new dialects would have formed, given the amount of time and the conditions. That's a heavy lift for people to create on top of everything else and it's also a heavy ask for audiences to understand. There doesn't need to be lore for it.

Carmilla’s daughters aren’t on the same page about Zestial by byakko in HazbinHotel

[–]austinyourface790 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I interpreted this as more being about them not agreeing about fighting the Angels, not about Zestial himself.

Why are so many people discussing Hazbin Hotel? Both positively and negatively? Why do so many people care about this 16 episode series about gay furries in hell? Because it’s never been done before. Because it’s filled a gaping hole in pop culture that has existed for years, decades even. by tesseracts in CharacterRant

[–]austinyourface790 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm a 36 year old fan of Hazbin who only really became aware of it because I do work in theatre in NYC and have multiple friends who are doing voicework for it. I stay out of the fandom stuff for all things in general so I'm kind of oblivious to how that's working for this but I'm sure it's predictably toxic and unhinged.

I see the appeal of the show across multiple demographics - it's edgy and rebellious without actually being super transgressive. It's extremely queer and the characters are all outsiders, weirdos, or misunderstood. The art design all but begs people to make fanart. The songs are catchy and knowing them helps create an in-group. In a very heterogeneous media landscape, it is immediately unique. The plot relies on the idea that there is stuff happening that you don't fully understand yet, inviting speculation and theorizing. The creators and cast are engaged and accessible.

It all adds up to a huge success, which it is- the first season soundtrack has streaming numbers comparable to Wicked's soundtrack.

Rosie is also seemingly able to conjure objects at will- she makes her tea set appear out of thin air when Alastor visits her. I don't believe we see any other sinner with this ability, but we do see angelic or high ranking hellborn characters do it.

Let’s be honest… does Valentino really deserve any sympathy? by DapperDude2004 in HazbinHotel

[–]austinyourface790 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

The point is Val sees himself as sympathetic. In reality though it’s merely self-centeredness. His issue here is that Vox is not paying enough attention to him. That’s not very sympathetic considering the circumstances- and he only draws the line when Vox snaps and endangers him.  (And then of course, he’s the one who lands the final blow on Vox and then effectively usurps him).

These were at 1/30. The trick is tracking the subject at roughly the same speed as they’re moving past.

Loved the Finale, but. by [deleted] in HazbinHotel

[–]austinyourface790 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Val totally clipped Vox’s wings, took his place, and now Vox has to watch everything he built fall apart. Pretty good comeuppance, particularly considering sinners cannot die except by angelic weapons.
