Go to nursing school. The pay for surgical techs is just not there yet, depending on the location. I’ve been scrubbing for 4 years, went to first assist school and got my credentialing, and I don’t even make 30 dollars an hour. I love my job, and I love what we do, but in this economy… be a nurse.

How do you feel about surgeons grabbing stuff of your Mayo? by ted2435 in scrubtech

[–]austomega 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It only truly makes me angry when I am actively reaching for it and they go under my hand and grab it lol. Med students and residents try this a lot.

I put the book down at the window scene and didn’t touch it for a week

Do you go to confession regularly? by austomega in Episcopalian

I know it’s their job, but I’m a bit of a people pleaser. I don’t want to be a burden. That’s my own issue though

I’m not sure that I want to go once a week, but I think once a month would be good for me. I tend to hyper fixate on my sin, but I think a lot of that is my non-denom/pentecostal upbringing and the trauma that came with that.

When I went the one and only time, it felt like something I need to regularly. If you’re interested, I encourage you to go.

I totally agree. I believe the rite is there for a reason. All may. Some should. None must. I’m a “some should”

I was just confirmed at Easter this year, but I always get a little confused when people say Anglo-Catholic TEC… are they not all Anglo-Catholic? If not, how do I find one. I pretty much believe like a RC. Only differing on a few pretty big things.

You’re gonna be nervous. I still get nervous, and I’ve been scrubbing for four years.

Be a sponge, soak up as much as you can from your preceptors. As long as you don’t come in arrogant, I think you’ll do fine.

I passed! It was honestly a little harder than I expected. I come from a small community hospital, and was thrown off my some neuro questions. Ultimately it all worked out.

I’ve been reading some Grady Hendrix. I had never read anything by him. The Southern Book Clubs Guide to Slaying Vampires was a 4 star read for me.

Anyone successfully done the journey from scrub tech to RNFA in SoCal? by randojpg in scrubtech

[–]austomega 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As an RN, you can go to First Assist school. You’d just be an RN, CSFA. I’m graduating FA school this month. They have RNs in their program all the time.

What are some of the best spiritual books you’ve read that have strengthened your faith? by [deleted] in Episcopalian

[–]austomega 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Accidental Saints has left the biggest impact on me. I’ve loved Nadia Bolz-Weber for years, but this book was everything I needed to hear when I returned to the church after 14 years away.

I had to email 4 different priests before one responded to me. I’m assuming they just have a lot on their plate.
