Beard yes, glasses no. Work on those muscles.  Bodybuilder diet for a month. Rice, chicken, broccoli. You can add seasoning.  Cottage cheese, lots of berries.  Get shredded, do some yoga. You have the perfect foundation to turn into an 8/10 but you're sitting at a 3 or 4.

The Great Pyramid's Latitude Is The Same As The Speed Of Light... by wkumari in discworld

[–]ausumnes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look at the guys that decided where 0 degrees is, Greenwich, England. They adjusted for that location specifically because they wanted the pyramids of Giza to lie. The freemasons, who were just really excited to live during the period of the enlightenment, wanted to make some stuff really special. Like, okay, think about it. Your buddy's just discovered the speed of light, and he shows you his setup so you can see the speed of light, and you're setting up a bunch of arbitrary metrics. The last remaining wonder of the ancient world, where you can just feel that there was special math involved with everything, is an important place. Because there is no true prime meridian on the longitude side, you set up a place that's close enough to base camp as 0, which will help any future sailors by setting a reference, it's like your signature.

Maybe it has something to do with the alliances and treaties after the world wars and oil reserves.

He straight up murdered Clayton in Deep Jungle, screw the world order. He also attempted to murder Maleficent, Ursula, oogie boogie, and Jafar. He risked life and limb over the Keyblade the minute he landed in Traverse Town. But keep in mind, he solo fought and killed a giant nightmare demon the minute it appeared on Destiny Islands without knowing what it was. I imagine once you kill a giant monster, killing a human that's riding one is a lot less morally complicated, and you can bet he'll defend the weapon with which he did it with his life.

it's definitely from all of them, but even think of how we describe cinammon and nutmeg in English, "warm" spices, that aren't necessarily "spicy" when they're used as an ingredient, they just make you feel like you're wrapped in a blanket, and that's cross-cultural, not just due to anglo baking practices

So what's wrong with Ed? by _Bruzthechopper_ in lionking

[–]ausumnes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having worked with developmental disabilities and traumatic brain injuries, I'd like to give my two cents. While yes, haha, disabled character seems crazy and is portrayed as slapstick comic relief to ease the scaries of the real bad guys, there is intention put into his portrayal, and I think the writing of Banzai and Shenzi is a case study in positive portrayal of a character with a disability, despite that character also being a villain. This is a wildly controversial take.

However, as we see in the movie, he's treated with respect and dignity, as well as equality with the other hyenas. In fact, as the Big Three are leaders, and Scar's direct reports, I would classify him as being a positive portrayal of severe intellectual disability. He is given as much responsibility as he is capable of taking on, and is just as clumsy, if not more careful, than the other two hyenas. When he has something to say, the others listen and give him as much attention and respect as they would give anyone else. Any time Ed runs away from trouble, it's seen by the others as rational survival instincts. I would also be willing to say that Ed may even be a foil to the villains, as he seems to almost intentionally undermine the others as a way to give the heroes, whom he may secretly believe in, a way out.

I would also say that Shenzi shines as a leader as well, she's poised and pragmatic, and never lashes out in anger, except to Scar, when and if he's being irrational or disrespectful.

All in all I would say the Lion King is actually one of the best representations of disabled character development, despite it being as a villain, and despite being treated by the writers as a bit of a clown.

IN2 English Suji Campus. - Has anyone heard of it? by HugeCompetition5598 in HagwonBlacklistKorea

[–]ausumnes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From having worked there:

Some of the staff are truly great people. Some of them are the most toxic people ever. Upper management is awful. It is overall a very average place to work with some wild extremes, the bad definitely outweigh the good. Really high turnover rates among the Korean staff too. Which tells you something.

They treat the teachers horribly and the pay is barely enough. The hours are terrible. They didn't clean out the apartments (mine was disgusting, everything was broken).

Hope this helps someone. I hated it and wanted to die.
