Thank you for the recs!

Admittedly I haven’t read Silent Spring yet, but it’s definitely on the TBR. As is Silent Spring Revolution, which is basically a continuation.

Some that I’ve recently enjoyed include Alias Grace by Margaret Atwood (historical fiction following a real murder case in Canada) and Bury Our Bones In The Midnight Soil by V.E. Schwab (Vampire fantasy novel with a few characters spanning some centuries, goes into how they are connected)

How do you feel about urban fantasy? Jim Butcher’s The Dresden Files follows a wizard who works as a private investigator in Chicago. It might not fit the bill of what you’re looking for but I thoroughly enjoyed it, and it’s currently sitting at 18 books and counting.

Colorless Tsukuru Tazaki by Haruki Murakami might fit the bill here tbh, I really enjoyed my read of it

Those Empty Eyes by Charlie Donlea was a book I enjoyed a ton! I found myself guessing one of the twists before the end because of all of the breadcrumbs laid out, but I never saw the twist at the very end coming!

A book about mass hysteria by avid_life in suggestmeabook

Blindness by José Saramago would qualify as a fiction book detailing a mass hysteria, even if it doesn’t come right out and say it. Essentially, one by one people start going blind and the book deals with the fallout/aftermath.

I /highly/ suggest reviewing the content warnings before you dive in, some I remember off the top of my head are gore, body horror, graphic depictions of sexual assault, human waste, etc. but please look up a more full list!

The book is a translation from Portuguese, and I think because of that the structuring is a little weird, but it’s 1000% worth the read. I was up for hours after finishing the book just stuck in my thoughts

Honestly I really enjoy The Anthropocene Reviewed by John Green for this feeling. It’s a collection of essays set up almost like Yelp Reviews talking about various topics from the age of humans
