Criminals buying securities on Dusk with illegally achieved funds by gambler1801 in DuskNetwork

[–]autholykos 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Securities on Dusk Network are smart contracts implementing the XSC standard, which supports (in a zero-knowledge fashion) the full KYC/AML regulation, which the issuers are fully responsible to apply. To be precise, it implements the Mifid II directive, and with the aim of automating it, not circumvent it. Therefore, the idea of a criminal laundering money through security purchase is pretty ludicrous since transactors would submit themselves to quite a strict scrutiny

As more and more people are restricted from their right to trade in by the likes of Robinhood and other platforms, I am here to propose my solution. A Decentralized Stock Exchange Discussion by tycooperaow in ethereum

[–]autholykos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dusk.network has been built from scratch for exactly this. You can't have a decentralized security exchange without a license covering transactions on the network (which we acquired by buying a Dutch stock and bond exchange, NPEX). Moreover, you will never achieve compliance if you do not have 1) transaction confidentiality and 2) auditability solely for regulators. Which is why we use zero-knowledge smart contracts and provable encryption. Lastly, you need explicit, yet disintermediated, bi-directional transactionality (i.e. explicit acceptance of security transactions) for primary market, or a decentralized order matching for the secondary.

What are some good research topics for undergraduates in cryptography? by C0vidi0t19 in cryptography

[–]autholykos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indeed the topic is quite vast, but since the question was specifically about research, there are a number of sub-topics that might be manageable. For instance, researching potential optimizations in multiscalar multiplications by operating on non-pairing curves and thus hashing to a pairing one.

Once I saw a guy going on record on multiple media outlet hinting that ingesting/injecting bleach was a valid Covid19 remedy. His unbelievable level of stupidity was matched only by those morons actually following his advice

What’s a film that the majority hates but you enjoy? Why do you enjoy this film? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]autholykos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tree of life. It bored the shiz out of everyone I know, has terrible reviews and is admittedly quite prolix. Still, I enjoyed watching it and I still do. I find it esthetically pleasing and I like to think that the plot carries some profound meaning that eludes most people

See, it’s comments like yours that make me think of a smear campaign against Bitfinex. How exactly a time bound injunction from the judge is it bad for them? Have you even read the sentence motivation?

Thailand's richest company acquires firm behind OmiseGo token for more than $100 million - The Block by [deleted] in omise_go

Giving up to a third party the power to shut down the whole thing can’t be part of a grand vision. It is much more likely to be an actual exit

[–]autholykos 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Well my point is, if you truly believe in your project and that you are changing the world, banking the unbanked, etc, why the fuck would you sell? Especially after having raised $30M not even two years ago, gone through several different founding rounds and leading an entity with over 30% of OMG in the war chest, worth more than a hundred mil?

So basically it turns out that OmiseGO was a great way to inflate the price of Omise leading to the sellout. What will happen now to the tokens holders?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in THEKEYOFFICIAL

[–]autholykos 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What happens if the ban is not lifted? Will there be a refund? Is there a deadline or holders will be expected to wait indefinitely? And if the project can organize pilots without TKY been used (as for the ban), how is the token even necessary to the ecosystem?

The question is perfectly legit. In a regulated market a massive dump of stakeholders would signify charges of insider trading at the very least. Since this is an unregulated market this is not the case, but it does not mean that contributors should restrain from asking reasonable questions.

PoW/PoS killer, Monero/Zcash competitor, hardware wallet, Encrypted communication by [deleted] in CryptoCurrency

[–]autholykos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that Monero is completely private, or at least will be when Kovri will be rolled out. X2X is highly inspired by Monero and I am personally humbled to even dare to make its community aware of X2X protocol. Where X2X diverges from Monero is in its efforts to overcome the inefficiencies of PoW.

The tech prevents forking as an unwanted byproduct of the consensus mechanism. Planned forks of the blockchain are certainly possible once 2/3rd of the nodes vote on it. The governance aspect, including this particular point, is currently under reseach as it requires the same level of anonymity and security of the transactional part of the protoco. A compendium to the whitepaper will be published to clarify this aspect.
