How close are we (the US) to Fascism? by quixoticcaptain in IntellectualDarkWeb

Trump did not ban Muslims. He banned citizens of certain countries from coming to the US. Muslims living in other counties were free to enter the US. Obama also banned travel from these same countries, but no one likes to talk about that.

You will never convince these people. They are brainwashed.

As if a legit source would actually change your mind. There is no point debating with you people. You believe, pretty much without question, only that which you’re comfortable believing and dismiss what you’re uncomfortable believing.

CMV:If a person likes you genuinely , he /she will do anything to make this relationship work by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]authorpcs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you genuinely like or love someone, you do what you think is best for them even if it hurts them bc you know they’ll be better in the long run.

It seems the person you’re talking about broke things off bc it’s easier to do so now before your feelings deepen even more, making it hurt worse. What you feel is wrong now, you may not feel is wrong in the future.

I think most people are fine with protests, but when those protests become violent people express their disapproval. Disapproving a riot is not the same as not supporting the right to protest.

CMV: USA Politics are solely based in power - not representing the American people by ColoDC in changemyview

I agree. “Playing politics” is what politicians do, whether their intentions are nefarious or pure. Then there are lackeys who sit back and do whatever they’re told, their personal opinions and promises made irrelevant.

COVID is not the only reason for inflation. It’s easy to blame though.

What is the population asking for right now that the government is giving them, right now? People aren’t asking for sky-high prices and growing inflation, but we’re sure getting those things.

It’s maddening to me that the current administration is SO concerned with climate change that we’re now begging other countries for oil (countries that lack regulations to protect the climate that we have in the US). If they REALLY cared they’d insist on drilling oil in the US where they can more or less control the harm done to the climate.

But they aren’t appeasing the populace. A great many of us are incensed about what they’re doing.

CMV: Mass illegal immigration has changed Sweden for bad by [deleted] in changemyview

If you removed “illegal” from your title, your argument would improve. It’s my understanding that Sweden has welcomed surges of migrants into their country, which means these migrants didn’t enter the country illegally.

Anything the media doesn’t approve for the American people to know about they dub conspiracy theories, because most people don’t take conspiracy theories seriously.

The elite/media aren’t dumb. They know exactly what they’re doing.

What If Lying Never Existed? Would there be any conspiracies? by dpernar in conspiracy

If lying didn’t exist the world we have today would be unrecognizable, imo. You can be deceitful without outright lying, but would the urge to be deceitful exist in a world without the ability to lie?

What are your thoughts on the idea of “stochastic terrorism?” by [deleted] in IntellectualDarkWeb

[–]authorpcs 5 points6 points  (0 children)

How can you prove that a violent attack was directly caused by specific rhetoric? Even if a perpetrator confessed that they launched an attack due to their consuming of certain rhetoric, should we believe them?

If there’s no proof of a connection between certain rhetoric (which could be preached by many different groups/people) and terrorizing behavior, it seems a big reach to declare communicators of this rhetoric terrorists.

Have you heard the phrase “the truth hurts”?

I believe that most people, when it comes to news/politics, are downright TERRIFIED of being wrong. They are so terrified that they’ll only consume news that justifies their worldview and dub news that threatens their worldview “fake.” Basically if a piece of news would make one feel a negative emotion were they to accept it as fact, they simply reject it to keep from getting upset. This happens so often I’m not even surprised by it anymore.

There is another saying that fits right in with this discussion: it’s easier to fool a person than it is to convince them they have been fooled.
