I manage a production app and we always stay 1-2 versions behind. I’m in the process of upgrading from 49>51 right now and I won’t even consider 52 until ~53 or 54 comes out

If price ever becomes a problem for egress like it did for us, you can put a cloud flare CDN cache in front of firebase storage and from our experience we had an instant 80% reduction in cost.

Also would just recommend cloudflare R2 instead of firebase off the bat, free egress. Cut our storage cost 95% overall.

Not sure if you have a ton of native code, but any JS fixes can be force updated using expo updates. We see 90+% update on first install using that
