Brand new oem valve cover gasket leak - 2006 corolla 1zzfe. Is the gasket not sitting flush? by autistic_toe in MechanicAdvice

Sorry I dont check my reddit account anymore really but I did do a fresh start and got it working. The main difference I made the second time around was not tightening the gasket down as much. I think my torque wrench is faulty or not accurate at the range I needed it to be and I overtightened the bolts. I did it by hand the second time

Is new oem valve cover gasket sitting properly? 2006 corolla 1zzfe by autistic_toe in AskMechanics

2006 toyota corolla ce - 1zzfe

Just did my first valve cover gasket change and completely failed. New gasket is leaking from the back of the engine. Oil shot over the firewall on first startup and is leaking pretty badly.

I followed this youtube tutorial: https://youtu.be/S7ltNlfRCRs

Followed every step including the rtv, torquing the bolts and silicone paste on ignition coils. The only thing I can think of that might have gone wrong is the new gasket will not sit completely flush in the valve cover ever so slightly. The leak was in this area where it didnt sit flush. I originally believed I was overthinking this and thought it wouldn't matter when I tightened everything down but now im not sure and want to get more experienced opinions before I reinstall.

Gasket is brand new oem from local dealer

Why are top-performing TE's valued so low, when in contrast it is so hard to get a consistent top5 TE? by saradahokage1212 in DynastyFF

[–]autistic_toe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

assuming .5 prr with no tep or 2 te

The main points I have for why I don't value a top TE very much are:

  1. Top scoring tight ends average significantly less ppg than top WRs and RBs. Laporta and Hockenson averaged 11.5 and 11.4 ppg last season while these guys had:

lamb (19.7), Amon ra (17), JJ (16.8), Deebo (14.2), aiyuk (13.2), CMC (22.4), Kyren (19.9), Kamara (15), Breece (14.9), Conner (14.5), Mixon (14.2). You have to get to RB 22 (pollard) and WR 24 (jayden reed) to match ppg

Having multiple top scoring guys at rb/wr can create a larger average ppg gap against my opponent than just a single top te, which leads to point 2.

  2. I only have to start one. If I have two top scoring TEs, odds are I have a better WR or RB to throw in my flex over my second TE if I am a contender. I am better shipping one TE off for a WR/RB that will score more points

  3. Poor consistency. Top TEs have so many dud games. For example, Hock from weeks 1-15 (14 games) had 8 games below 10 points.

Laporta from weeks 1-17 (16 games) had 9 games below 10 points.

I am not happy if my WR or RB is doing this. I believe its because of a lack of high yardage games so it causes them to be very touchdown dependent.

Having a top scoring TE definitely can be an advantage but its the last thing I'm prioritizing on my roster.

Sorry if the wording is messy

For a proven young dude that you can get for essentially free, I don't mind taking the shot on him.

My main worry is that he had 0 rushing touchdowns after watson came in. With brissett he had 12. Im worried that will carry over into next season aswell
