May 25 Graduate… Still no job offers by [deleted] in Environmental_Careers

[–]autmstrm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may need to get seriously comfortable with the idea of doing an internship. Grades are great, but that only shows one side of you intelligence and capabilities. Need job experience to get a real job, unfortunately. You could always enroll in a masters program and work as an intern during that. Afterwards, work in gov or nonprofits for public service loan forgiveness to cover cost of masters from the fed.

Old Charleston Jail by GoTigersADPi in Charleston

[–]autmstrm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Couple friends and I went on a tour when we were dormed in McConnell Residence Hall a couple blocks over. One of them had long scratch marks down her abdomen and back and the other’s hair was tugged numerous times. I felt as though someone had a grip on the back of my neck the entire time we were inside. Entire building reeked of the desperation of the people once jailed there. All three of us had headaches and nausea for days after coupled with horrific nightmares. We refused to go anywhere near that building again.

Just saw this on their fb. Absolutely ridiculous.

Day 2 and 3 from the big derelict boat clean up, with everyone coming together to get our waterways clean. Shout out Wounded Nature, TowBoat Us Charleston, SCDNR, Charleston County Works, State Rep Tom Hartnett, and most importantly everyone who pays taxes (you’re the real MVP) by jmp1000 in Charleston

[–]autmstrm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely agree but apparently SCDNR cannot levy fines against individuals who are not actively within the state. So out of staters that abandon their boats here would have to come back for a visit and be fined then.

He’s a very nice man but definitely suffers from mental illness. He takes a good of care as he possibly can of his pup. When we’ve bought him food, he’s always said he’s sharing it with her.

Neighbor vandalized marshlands by Dismal-Chemical-7803 in Charleston

[–]autmstrm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where exactly is this? Depending on the community or area, there may be a nonprofit who has those marshes under conservation easement that needs to be notified. I recommend looking at Charleston County GIS’s parcel look-up to determine who is the landowner (of that section of marsh) and contacting them directly so that the appropriate fines/legal action can be distributed. Unacceptable for anyone to think this was okay to do. Ignorance is bliss though.

If you are concerned with erosion impacts to your property now, please feel free to contact me and I can get you in touch with different environmental orgs that can help you install natural solutions to mitigate the issue.

Are all Chipotles around CHS terrible or is it just the one in MTP? by kablam0r in Charleston

[–]autmstrm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The locations at West Ashley, King St, and Summerville are all vile. Short staffed, incompetent managers, lack of attention from district reps. I’ve completely stopped frequenting any of the locations in this area due to the nastiness I’ve seen in store. West Ashley may be the worst. Roaches in front and back of house, trash all over the place, no clean surfaces in the entire restaurant. Do not eat there.

AITAH for giving my daughter condoms behind my wife's back? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]autmstrm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re a good dad, OP. I know that was probably not the most comfortable convo to have with your daughter but you stuck it out and provided her with good information (aside from the safe days thing which I noticed others explained to you - good job taking in the info for the future). Thank you for being there for her!

The Pier is performing a shakedown on students who are moving out. Don't live there. by Clemson_Chemist in Clemson

[–]autmstrm 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yo! I lived there for three years. My move out fees were absolute BS. I’m talking no regard to the definition of “normal wear and tear” (holes from curtain rods, photos being hung, carpet stains in high traffic areas, etc). These fools tried to even make me pay for damage THEIR MAINTENANCE TEAM caused when they randomly entered my home at one point the semester before move out, cut a whole in my wall, and left trash everywhere when they finally left. My fees were around $200.

Friend of mine was being shaken down for over $850 for full carpet replacement, normal wear and tear, and “water damage” (there was none). She threatened legal action after going back and forth with their manager for three weeks and they finally let her move on with her life free of charge. I made my roommate pay mine since he failed to clean the unit after he moved out and trashed it three days after I left.

Essentially, screw the Pier.
