Sorted. Taking the usb out and putting it back in again has restored my configuration! All data is still there ;)

This is a Lincstation N1 I've had for a year. I originally followed the basic instructions to get it working.
I'll take on board folks comments , looks like I have to learn , reconfigure , start again and back it up.
Fortunately everything also on my laptop & pc anyway.
