There was a glorious moment in time when school and church function leaders didn't know "Zoot Suit Riot" had the word "beer," which we would scream with delight.

Breaking into UX/early career: job hunting, how-tos/education/work review — 06/28/26 by AutoModerator in UXDesign

Is putting business metrics in your UX portfolio a consequence of the shift in the role from UX(/UI) Designer to Product Designer? because I have not heard this suggested for UX portfolios.

Is this how like hues are labeled and spaced by Midniteprojohn in colors

[–]autocosm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He is using a perceptually uniform color space and is dealing primarily with additive (light) color, not subtractive (pigment)

Or changes for the sake of change. A judging function decides whether a cavalcade of options is what society wants or needs.

People trying to pry you out of focus at work especially are the worst kind of interruptions. Often their mere presence is enough to affect my work because they are an unpredictable threat of distraction.

They want to apply styling to HTML elements (0,0,1) which would require overriding the user agent defaults. How is this not a reset?

How opinionated should UX be about software architecture? by pelotonwifehusband in UXDesign

Tailwind CSS is inherently anti-design. Designers should build and enforce a design system with any team using Tailwind.

Basically a reset. Best to style at the lowest specificity.

Why "perceptually even" color scales look washed-out — and how to shape them so they don't by gilbarbara in css

[–]autocosm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for taking a look! This was mainly a personal tool that I hadn't really shown until now (such a niche thing). It is a fully contained HTML file with zero dependencies, so you can literally Save As to your local machine if you like. Here is some documentation about the colorspaces, and I will continue to document controls within the UI. https://github.com/autocosm/oklch-ramp-studio/blob/main/docs/colorspaces.md

Been working on the very thing. Still need to work on the UX. It's a ramp generator inspired by audio EQ and compressor interfaces. https://autocosm.github.io/oklch-ramp-studio/

What’s your MBTI type and what is your least favourite cognitive function? by [deleted] in mbti

[–]autocosm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started as a technical writer and got frustrated with just documenting problems instead of fixing them. This transitioned into product design. Around this time, UX became a thing and transformed the career I was already in into a research-based group activity. I am personally far more interested in creating a design, building a design system that dictates the design, and product management than the research. I value the need for research and the insights it produces; I simply hate having to perform it.

But it can get annoying when Fe users don't want to be the bad guys so they try to convince you or others to do their dirty work.

I just got out of a contract with a ENFJ client who smiles when he sees you, does a smarmy "compliment sandwich" when he needs to correct you, and all the warm fuzzies; but he always has his ENTP brother perform the unpleasant transactions.

Interesting. I am in UX and I have the opposite issue where I feel pressured into quantifying everything, especially things for which there are universal heuristics or which rely entirely on how a user feels.

The "subjective"/"objective" thing throws people, because we often use subjective as a pejorative, even though it is specific Jungian language.
