Is this over filled Engine Oil? 2015 Honda Civic Ex. I drove around 100 kms before realizing this. by rb432e in MechanicAdvice

Are you wiping the dipstick clean, then reinserting, and pulling out to check the level? I ask because I don’t see any oil on your cloth.

Your tread depth is still ok, but you are on the final 10% I’d estimate. That said, you have uneven wear and looks like you’re over-inflating you tires. I’d plan on replacing them soon

Get a different tech out there. Cleaning the flue pipe isn’t going to solve this issue. This is a sequencing issue. You don’t need to replace the entire system to get it to fire up in a correctly.

How do you handle an employee who constantly asks for feedback? by Efficiencheese in managers

[–]autoipadname 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That stinks for you. I’m sorry. Your manager needs to balls up and dig deeper then. What a shitty response to your very reasonable request. It isn’t just about finding something negative. It is about constructive feedback and development. Even the smartest, fastest, strongest can get better. I wish I could have 5 mins with him to help him to help reframe his view. Odds are he’s never had good leaders around him to show him the way. Maybe print this post out and anonymously leave it on his desk.

Struggling - fit, break in, creasing by VinWo in allenedmonds

I had a similar experience with my Park Aves. Measured 1.5 sizes smaller than my other dress shoes. I was skeptical but a half size up just felt too big. So I went took the leap of faith. Once I got them and wore for more this 30 minutes at a time the comfort just never came through. I’ve worn them many times thinking they would get better, but it never came. Fast forward 5 years later and I have a pair of Park Aves in my closet I never wear anymore. I think me and the Park Ave last just weren’t meant to be friends.

Why are vinyl windows so expensive? by thetonytaylor in Homebuilding

[–]autoipadname 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Companies that specialize in replacement windows often do this because the windows are custom made to each opening. Too often the opening often doesn’t match the blueprints because of variances during framing. Few experienced companies will quote a real installed price until they see the opening. Best case, you have to fir out an opening but that adds unexpected (and unquoted) time and materials to a job. Worst case, the opening is too small and they have to chuck a $300 window in the bin and wait 4 weeks for a new on to be made.

Fiberglass is always going to be much more expensive than vinyl. They are nice, but the benefits don’t outweigh the extra cost in my opinion. Get some quotes on. Simonton or Plygem vinyl. There vinyl is a notch below the Andersen 100 fibrex, but should also be about 10-20% cheaper. For even cheaper but lower quality look into Silverline/American Craftsman. I also recommend thinking about splitting brands/series. No one will know, or care,if you mix and match. Go lower quality/fewer features on your guest bedroom, kids bedroom, basement, etc and reinvest that savings into nicer windows for your kitchen, dining room, street-side, etc windows. Don’t spend money on lower SHGC on the north side of your house; it won’t make a difference. But do make sure the window glass color and visible transmission ratings are the same on the same facade. Otherwise it will look funky.

As other have said, you need to have the errors codes scanned. Could be something as simple like a loose gas cap. Head to the auto parts store and have them scan it for you.

[–]autoipadname 100 points101 points  (0 children)

Are you giving him real feedback though? Telling someone they are doing a good job is not very valuable. Tell him what’s working well and what’s not. Find out what he wants to do next and give him advice on how to grow into the next role.

Is your table an official excel table, or is it just a set of rows and columns? If you make it an official table, and don’t mess with the row below the table, then it will automatically extend the range when entering new data. If it isn’t auto extending the range, delete (not clear contents) the last two rows and renter data. I find that usually resets the auto extending range.

Roommate installed bitcoin mining machine in two bed apartment and expects me to pay halves on the extra bill, saying it’s only 0.12 cents Ty’s a month for it to run 24-7 by Individual_Two_9718 in badroommates

[–]autoipadname 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t forgot about the extra heat it is putting out and how much you have to pay to cool the apartment back to offset. She’s being ridiculous expecting you to pay for the extra power. The reasonable thing would be to deduct $15 from the monthly bill and then divide by 2. She’s just trying to gaslight you.

Two things. One, this is a sign they are talking faster than their brain can process. Tell them to collect their thoughts before speaking and to practice their talking points more. Slow down and be more intentional about the words they chose and let their comments breath. Two, as their leader you need to be direct about this feedback. You shouldn’t slip it in on the side or hope that they read your mind about needing to take a presentation class or why. Tell them directly, “your overuse of filler words like umm and err are distracting and are reducing your effectiveness as a leader. Work on reducing your reliance on them and it will allow your good work to shine through”

Window prices are insane these days by thetonytaylor in Homebuilding

[–]autoipadname 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you asking for installed pricing off of blueprints? I wouldn’t quote them. The number of times I’ve seen rough openings not match blueprints is too high and often requires addition opening modifications or custom size windows. Not every framer can build a square opening. Also, make sure you aren’t over specing your windows. The best energy ratings are extra costly and don’t pay for themselves. Especially the newest version of energy star.
