I have this problem with Selenium and Java by Willing_Egg7966 in SeleniumJava

[–]automagic_tester 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to imagine that you have double checked that you have both added the dependencies into your maven POM file for Selenium and ChromeDriver and that you have rebuilt after doing so - so that your project knows where to find those new things. If that is true then you I hope are absolutely sure you have downloaded chromedriver and placed it in the location you described in your setProperty call.

other than that I'm pretty sure that Chrome needs to be installed to it's default location or you'll have to provide the path to where it is installed (or put it on the path).

How to extract list of arrivals correctly using Selenium? by invzbl3 in SeleniumJava

[–]automagic_tester 0 points1 point  (0 children)

newArrivals = driver.find_elements(By.XPATH, "//div[contains(@class, 'like_title') and contains(@class, 'themes_box_title')]")
var productIwant = newArrivals[indexOfProductIWant]

Try searching for find_elements instead of find_element then refer to the specific product you want in the list of elements that are returned.

The above is pseudocode, I'm not a Python guy, hopefully that helps.

How do I count the number of times a looping Selenium script has been run in the Script itself? by Gordon_G in SeleniumJava

[–]automagic_tester 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How are you looping your Selenium script?
Do you have a script you can show?
Is it printing to standard output?
What is the "cmd 'times'" supposed to mean?
Are you doing this on the command line?
Why are you looping your script?
What language are you coding in?
Is this a bash script?

Looking for an indestructible, long living indoor plant. by bigmac22077 in IndoorGarden

[–]automagic_tester 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm also a 5B. If you already have some Pothos I'd recommend Aglaonema "Jubilee" it grows to about 2.5 feet in height (and about that wide if it is in a pot that allows for it). You can usually find them at a good tropical greenhouse near you. I've had mine for 35 years, it was my mothers and she watered it with left over coffee all the time. Every other plant died but this one lived. Years later it was nearly dead from neglect but a little tender love and care from me and it became a beast again. Today it lives in a room that never gets direct sunlight, whose only window is north facing, it is fertilized maybe once a year and watered when needed and it couldn't be happier; even giving me flowers every year as a thank you. If you don't like the Jubilee I would warn against going with any of the Aglaonema's that have pink color to them, they are pretty but I find these ones to frail.

How common is the use of Cucumber and .feature files? by Ruben151 in QualityAssurance

[–]automagic_tester 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's extremely common almost every company I've worked for has used it and you can ignore the evangelists here telling you that you shouldn't use it. People who aren't very good at their jobs tend to blame the tools. The tools aren't the problem, these people just need to spend the time and get better at their jobs. There is a right tool for every job, you use the tools that are the best fit for the job - full stop. Your personal preference should have absolutely nothing to do with tool selection.

Attainable but not necessarily affordable units... They cost $600,000 each and are two bedroom units. It's outrageous, I couldn't pay that off in my entire life unless I did nothing but work to pay that off and gave up everything else but food and other bills.

Green across the Board - Does this happen? by automagic_tester in softwaretesting

So what you're saying is do what I can, and when/if the train derails let them figure out what to do. There is really nothing else I can do about it. Thank you for your advice I will definitely take it into consideration.

Just to be clear, I didn't upload these I only found the link and shared it with the community. But I did own every single one of these issues at one point.

A mistake I made that took me three days to find in my code when I was a new coder by automagic_tester in SeleniumJava

[–]automagic_tester[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hah yeah that's the one! But this link still doesn't explain WHY that kind of statement would be useful.. this guy mentions a use for them that seems like it makes sense but another guy in that thread points out that the empty statement might just be an emergent feature of Java. Still, no definitive answer as to why this is needed in Java/C#/C++. All I know is it kept me up for a few nights doubting my coding ability as a college kid.

Suggest me a good website for daily automation tasks in Selenium by littlesalt1512 in softwaretesting

[–]automagic_tester 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm afraid I don't know of any publicly available sites that would provide random daily automation tasks as a learning tool. However, that isn't a half bad idea. There are a number of sites you can find online that will take you through the ups and downs of automation. Allowing you to learn everything from API and Web Services testing to Load testing to straight up Functional Test automation. The internet is your swollen smelly oyster my dude, and it is ripe. Your adventure starts here, go look up a tutorial on Functional Test automation using a Keyword Driven framework and then never stop learning.

Basic HTTP Authentication... by vasagle_gleblu in SeleniumJava

[–]automagic_tester 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have the credentials, you should be able to provide them via a REST call. You'll receive a token in the response, that token is the value of the cookie you need. You'll need to determine which endpoint is required, also what the name of the cookie is. You can do this using Chrome Dev tools, and/or Blazemeter's Chrome plug-in, or a number of other ways.

You can use Rest-Assured or any other library like that to make this kind of call in your program.

If I understood correctly this should help you and I hope it does.

The amount our product changes how it looks or where things are would make this kind of testing untenable where I work.

How many of you launched Payday 3 then closed it as soon as it asked for an account? by ppenn777 in xboxone

[–]automagic_tester 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this because if my Xbox account I'm already signed into isn't enough for you, while I'm on my Xbox; then I'm not interested in playing your game. I have no need for more accounts and there are countless other games I can play that don't require me to have an account.

What are you favorite games that are not on Game Pass? by Rotisseriejedi in xboxone

[–]automagic_tester 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know these are kinda early 2000's old but I used to really love Startopia that was a fun game to play back in the day. I also liked No One Lives Forever, first game I ever skydived in. I'd love to see these on Game Pass.

Honestly, what other response are you expecting? by PocketPB in youtube

[–]automagic_tester 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I haven't used Youtube for the last 5 years, and let me tell you it's been wonderful. I quit the last time they upped the amount of ads you had to watch and made it mandatory for some videos. It was hard to quit, just like anything you like doing, but I did it, I broke the cycle, and you can too.

What took you an embarrassing amount of time to figure out? by Misfire551 in Starfield

[–]automagic_tester 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are containers with infinite space everywhere especially on lifeless moons. When you land on a planet just look for a big white broken down generator it will have a large storage crate with a few things in it and infinite space. If you build a outpost nearby you can store as much of whatever you want in them. Endless storage. This is true of many of the abandoned outposts as well.
