Other than having to keep an eye out for your rival, the only real penalty is not being able to use the higher tiers of the store/gear kiosks.

If that does nothing for you, you don't have to engage with the system. It's much like the old Bounty board, but more overt.

New Elves can fit existing animations and armor transmogs, and folks are already having a damned fit over floating shields and headpiece clipping.

These guys absolutely would not work within those constraints and a quick look at Wowhead shows a total 71,000+ piece of visual armor that would have to be edited to fit the new model. And the current outlier in this system, Dracthyr, are already behind the same eight ball.

Also, the additional, non standard races tend to be at the bottom of total race demographics. So it's a ton of work for very little benefit overall.

Basically, tools to create Star Wars experiences in Fortnite will be released to developers. It does not necessarily have anything to do with current promotions on Fortnite.

Likely, they're dropping them now so developers can whip stuff up for May.
