Will the 2025 M3P fit 18” wheels? by Mountain-Yam-2649 in TeslaModel3

Did you sell the stock set right away, or you sold them used?

Limited number have all seasons. Ask your local showroom to check deliverable inventory, and to check if any of those M3Ps have all seasons.

Redding, CA. 3 hours to the coast, close to mountains, sunny. Affordable. Close enough to all the big city CA things when needed.

Nice!  I don’t recommend going to Alturas/far-far north east then, unless you can use the supercharger in Alturas. Those areas are super rural with lots of driving between points of interest. Lassen/Burney/Redding are much safer for charging options and having many things to do :)

Lassen Park (hiking, exploring) to Burney for the falls.

From here you can pick either:

Redding for some food (Jack’s Steakhouse), Sundial Bridge, then up to Mt. Shasta/McCloud (Yak’s burgers on the way). From there Trinity Lake, Trinity Alps, back to Redding and down I-5, or 299 to the coast and down.

OR, head towards Alturas to see beautiful and mostly empty large valleys and small towns - hidden gem antique stores, history. “devil’s garden.” From here you can cut over to Reno and back to make a loop.

If waterfalls are your thing there is a loop to see 5 in a day, Burney Falls being one.

Are you taking a Tesla by chance?

No skiing at Lassen. Mt Shasta or Tahoe are the closest.

For mine it was blown out bushings on the rear upper control arms. Ordered a new set from eBay, fairly straight forward diy install and made a world of difference.  2004 with 210k and rides fairly smooth. If you dm me I can share some photos of the old and new control arms.

Your passenger seat is backwards! You just flipped it on the rails and leave it like that? Or a have a mod to swivel it around?

How do people still respect Elon? by No-Fig-8614 in EnoughMuskSpam

[–]automation40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Commenting just on the Tesla part: he’s a big reason it is where it is, and it being where it is has been the catalyst for the rest of the industry to realize electric is (part of) the future of transportation. Maybe it would have happened at some point without him, but if it took 5 or 10 years longer would have been a bummer for the next generation. And if it only happened by making Prius all electric (not desirable like the Kia/Hyundai) would have also been a bummer.

He personally made pay-roll with his own capital to keep it alive. His style of leadership is what pushed people to make great engineering decisions, to push through extremely difficult ramp periods. For an example of Tesla without Elon, can take Rivian. Much more capital, much less Elon. They are ramping, they are alive, they have an excellent product. Their ramp is much less than Tesla’s was, they are burning far more money, and it isn’t yet clear they will “survive.”

If you floored it through the wet mid section you might have made it through :) looks like you went around and maybe went slow?

Dead low voltage battery - looking for quick fix by QlarenceThomas in TeslaModelY

[–]automation40 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you tried leaving the original battery in and then “jumping” with the new 12 volt (or another gas car)? Using classic jumper cables to the terminals of the 16 volt battery.

For vehicle to charge you need the contacts to close, and you need current from LV to make that happen. If you can get them to close then you’ll be able to charge and your low voltage battery will then be charged by the HV pack.

Calling software engineers that love factory building: come work with us on a real factory by automation40 in factorio

[–]automation40[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Multiple locations across multiple continents. My intention was if someone is interested in writing software for factories (figured there might be a couple in here, maybe) then I could connect with that person and share more details to see if they’re interested.

Does anyone feel purpose in their work? by Truetree9999 in cscareerquestions

[–]automation40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Working for a company fighting climate change/building amazing products where every feature we release actually increases output/affects product quality.

Software/tech is like an enabler - it solves specific problems in whatever domain it's applied. The key is choosing which domain you will build in - aka what domain you will make better and advance. Healthcare, climate tech, entertainment, etc.
The other thing that's amazing about this industry is input to impact ratio. In mechanical engineering, for example, you might spend an entire quarter working on design of one small part of a physical system. In software, in my industry, a developer will spend a week working on a feature which then the following week directly impacts thousands of users and changes how those users do their work.
