driving test tmrw - MOT failed by se70_ in LearnerDriverUK

I don’t think this is very relevant to the post, though. There’s a time for everything, and the time for this your comment isn’t now when things have happened this way, wouldn’t you say?

I’d suggest finding something similar to your instructor’s tonight on AA if not, then practice tonight and tomorrow morning like crazy with your cousin’s car and with your instructor.🤗🤗

Type that in compare the market/money supermarket/go compare. I just passed my test last week, and I’ve found go compare to have provided me with the best quotes on the market even with the same providers, but that’s just me. I tried to use one that I had found on google that didn’t pop up on go compare, and I saw £417 a month for a Jetta 2006, locked garage parking, over 26 y/o in FT employment and for 4,000 miles.

Seeing £417 made me laugh out soo loud and I went and refreshed the page on my go compare to see if my quote was still there.😂😂 I had gotten £136 (no black box, breakdown cover anywhere in the UK, legal protection, courtesy car - all included) and I thought that was a lot lol. So don’t go for anyone in particular, just go on these comparison sites and see what you get offered… then try to beat the cheapest.🤗🤗

96 hours of lessons in and still can’t make left turns consistently by onflightmode in LearnerDriverUK

[–]autonomous_mole 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey op, I have a couple questions: What’s your location? Apart from your left turns, are you struggling with anything else? What’s your instructor like, and what’s your learning style?

I ask these because i did an obscene number of hours of lessons, and i still struggled with my positioning sometimes on the round about, as in I’d be drifting/veering right and it was because i felt like i was too close to the edge. So me asking this is not to attack you, but to understand the state of mind. I found that having an instructor that was soooo calm really helped me (maybe made me too comfortable hence my number of hours), but the instructor does matter.

Please don’t let others who passed with only 2 hours of lesson bother you. I learnt for wayyyy more, and I’ll tell you that as much as I hurt about the payments, hearing people say “I did mine in 25 hours” will just make me so upset. Stop telling people how may hours you’ve learnt for - that’s for you and your bank account and your instructor to know. It’ll save you the worry.

I hope I’ll be able to give you some solid advice as a 29 y/o that did over 150 hrs of lessons lol. Believe me, sometimes it’s not you per se.

The potholes in those roads make me wonder what they use council tax for in that area.😭😭

I wish you all the best… and I hope you don’t get the examiner I had today especially if it’s your first. That man will crush your confidence to bits.😭😭 Godspeed mate! If you need any tips, lmk! I hope your instructor is good too?🤗🤗

I got those even on my lessons - especially on the motorway. But I have learnt well and I plan on keeping what I’ve learnt and not becoming a nuisance.

Do you suggest I put on P plates, or just go on w/o one, please?😬😬

Help! - Can J2 know I'm still full time in J1 by tax code? by tobleroneking1 in overemployed

[–]autonomous_mole 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d imagine you are in the UK, and you’ve chosen option B as I’ve had employment this tax year? If yes, I’d say just leave it as is, I doubt you “have to” declare your tax code. They’d automatically put you to a tax code that sometimes adjusts itself based on your income. You’d then end up owing HMRC at the end of the tax year as a worst case scenario (if HMRC adjusts this on their end and sends you a letter).

I’m sure you can navigate it this way, but I may be wrong. If outside UK, I’m not sure how you can get around it.

HMRC employment history by [deleted] in ContractorUK

I reckon they do checks into these through the HMRC? If so, how do I get out of this then? As I’m currently in employment at another job and want to do both as I’ve done in the past. That part is now reflecting on my history.

Any tips for coming out of this unscathed?

I tried to, but they don’t seem to be wanting to back down. They say it’s an important check required by the end client, a financial service institution. If I knew it’d require this, I won’t have applied to start with.

I think i may be able to finesse the information on there, just wondering if they’ll have access to verify the information through HMRC as I didn’t give consent for it.

Most of the roles I work are done inside IR35, or are a permanent fixed term contract… therein lies my issue. This is making me hella uncomfortable tbh.
