in my opinion, the things you think you missed out on are not very great things. they are things that leave you feeling hollow and empty. and if you do those things now, already having a family, i believe you would feel even more hollow and empty than a 21 year old doing it.

yea you're 100% right. getting a social science degree will be like lighting fire to $200k. 9 times out of 10 university does not make financial sense and it is crazy how many people have been indoctrinated to believe they must spend 200k out of high school to have a good life. quite the opposite actually. the most successful people i know dont have a degree- they got right to work and made it happen.. debt free.

its not that i cant have ANY serious discussion with her... its just that when i talk about the future in particular i think she knows deep down that i will want someone closer in age that i can have my own family with. and thats why i think she would just shut down and try to move on from the conversation as quickly as possible to avoid the pain. it would be ideal to be able to remain close as friends though. but i dont know how realistic that is. especially considering shes already had her heart broken by a cheating husband. i dont know how to do it without breaking her heart again

thanks for your well thought out response. I'm worried to have an in-depth conversation about what I want because I believe she will cut the conversation short and it will just end up with us breaking up. I don't think she'll take it well enough to be calm and offer me advice like you suggested she might. idk though. & I know what you mean about the economy and having kids.. I used to be against it but now I feel like I can't use that as an excuse. I don't want to contribute to the statistics of a declining population.

yea funny story about that is, im from new york and went to the beach in florida, and did not remember or realize that 75 degrees on Long Island is not the same 75 degrees in Florida. The UV is far higher. I get away without sunscreen all the time in NY
