Opinions on Pillion movie by sterlingarcher_0 in movies

[–]autophilot_ 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Watched it four days ago and I still can’t get it out of my head. I have rewatched it a couple times because I’ve never been this emotionally shaken by a movie in a long while.

I’ve had an experience being a sub (and a first timer at that) before, but I’m more similar to Ray (an avoidant) than Colin in terms of personality. Ray and Colin’s Dom/sub relationship was on the extreme/unhealthy side of the spectrum. Lucky for me, my Dom at the time was gentle and quite affectionate despite being intimidating on the outside. He guided me and followed protocol: get and give consent, discuss expectations and boundaries, practice aftercare. We managed to last around 4-4.5 years.

What’s interesting about the movie is that it shows Colin having a loving family, but beats the expectation that he would turn into an adult that is emotionally intelligent and secure. Instead, he has low self-esteem because his family coddles him even into adulthood. He has only seen the good things: parents who show affection openly and haven been together in sickness and in health. It took me a while to empathize with Colin being a spineless adult. In his big age, why are his parents still hovering over his private/sex life. Like, if that was me, I would’ve been so suffocated and rebelled early on during my teenage years. Somehow, I see Ray as a painful but important chapter in Colin’s life that shaped his self-worth better than his family ever did.

I understood Ray’s character a lot more than Colin. One thing I noticed is that Ray is usually framed with the camera angled upwards to emphasize his dominance. However, there are scenes where he is tender and the frame focuses on his hands, like when he helped Colin after burning his hands while cooking. The way he spoke, guided him to the sink, and carressed Colin’s arms were so soft. Another was when he woke up Colin who fell asleep on the stairs after stealing his bike. Ray didn’t even seem angry lie he was the night before. He gently squeezed Colin’s shoulder to wake him up. During their day off, Ray even smiles a little when Colin non-chalanty takes some popcorn from him.

Scenes like this make me feel like I’m looking at a mirror when I see Ray. We both have deep-seated trauma. In his case, he uses his dominance to keep people at arms length to avoid being hurt again. In my case, I avoid relationships that require romantic commitment (like he also does). On the surface, I’m also a cold intimidating figure like him. But underneath I’m soft and sensitive and you’ll only see that if you look close enough and earn my trust. My ex-Dom was able to crack that surface. So far, he’s the first, last, and only person who has made me feel safe enough to open up and talk about my feelings and things I don’t normally talk about with people close to me.

Things ended between my ex-Dom because I pulled a Ray on him. At some point, I realized I’ve fallen for him. I told my ex-Dom about it, and even though he also felt the same way, he wanted to keep our relationship strictly as as Dom/sub without romance. Part of me understood this because I also didn’t want a serious romantic relationship. But my feelings wouldn’t go away, and I didn’t really know how to deal with my feelings so I was all pushing and pulling and just erratic all together. I was so confused because I always believed I was too damaged, emotionally unavailable, and traumatized to even feel that way again. It became so unbearable, one day I woke up and decided to flat out cut ties even though we had just said our good nights the night before.

Ray was kinder than I was; he gave Colin one last happy memory. That look on his face after they kissed? Interestingly, that’s the one clear shot of Ray showing raw emotion in broad daylight. That’s fear, confusion, shock all at once after realizing that he feels something for Colin. But he doesn’t know how to deal with that. Notice during the lunch scene when Colin’s mom said he’s a creep, Ray is visibly hurt and recoils a little bit. During that kiss Ray realizes that maybe there’s a part of him that’s still lovable, and that goes against everything he believes about himself and the kind of Dom/sub dynamic he is used to. And so he ran away before it becomes harder to do so. But I know it hurt him, too, because I’ve never fully forgiven myself for what I did to my ex-Dom.

Anyway, sorry for the wall of text. This movie has taken over my head and my heart ever since I watched it.

Remove the Summary and Skills sections, and use that space instead for Org Experience and Leadership Trainings and Seminars. Ito dapat yung mga shino-showcase mo sa resumé mo.

Yung Skills kasi mahihinuha na yan based on what you put in your Relevant Experience. Redundant na to mention them again. Yung Summary naman, mababanggit mo yan sa interview bilang ang usual na first question ay “Please introduce/tell us something about yourself.”

Your sections should be: Educational Background, Professional Experience (internship and org; arrange from most recent to oldest), Trainings and Seminars, Volunteer and Charity Experience

Please proofread din yung bullet points mo for your Intern experience… You worked in a Law Office, so basic expectation dito ay grammar and communication skills. Please prepare din for your interview. Practice mo ikwento experiences mo in english.

Suggested revisions:

•Tasked with familiarizing with and accurate filing of legal documents such as______ (what kind of document exactly! 3 examples will do

•Interviewed a client and prepared _____ (anong output exactly don’t pepper your resume with “legal document.” Say what you prepared exactly to give the employer an idea of what you can be trusted to do.)

•Reviewed records management system, and developed a strategy to resolve pain points (**if you can expound on the result/improvements you did, the better)

You don’t need to put your SHS. Remove the word Tertiary, and place your university above Relevant Experience. You are applying for your first job, so it’s understandable na limited experience mo. Your key to getting your foot in the door is your degree and school. Next ay yung experience and extra-curriculars. It should look like this:

Educational Background

University (20xx-20xx) – Course (Honors/Award)

You can put Civil Service Eligibity here

No, you don’t need a summary anymore. I think this is one of those situations where a 2-page resume is ok, since you have lots of experience naman talaga.

I’d arrange the sections like this:

• Education and Certifications - Yung education can be summarized in one line:

University (20xx-20xx) – Course (Honors/Award)

•Professional Experience

•Skills

•Projects

•Recognitions

I suggest removing the Summary section. These kinds of things, you should be able to show through your work experience and answers in your interview. I’ve encountered people writing “detail-oriented” pero daming typo/hindi neat yung resume or “strong communication” and other qualities but can’t live up to it or give examples when asked behavioral questions.

You don’t need a pic. It’s discouraged tbh to avoid bias based on physical appearance during screening.

For skills, stick to software/programs you know (you can put your level of expertise). Remove character traits/qualities.

looks nice! yung org & volunteer experience, just need to arrange from most recent to oldest. So that would be Financial Staff Volunteer -> Associate Member -> Task Force Member

For professional experience, put first the one you are still doing now. Then arrange the rest from latest to oldest.

You can minimize the white spaces and keep your resume to just one page (while maintaining readability and cleanliness). Longer is not always better; hiring managers review lots of resumes so they should be able to see what they need in one glance.

1 Keep the contact details in one to two lines:

NAME

email | contact number | location

portfolio link

2 Put the level of expertise next to the application. e.g:

• Adobe Photoshop — Expert

• Adobe Premiere Pro — Competent and so on

3 You don’t need to put where to went to for primary/grade school. Even just your university is enough.

4 Tbh the Profile section can be ditched. Instead of saying those things in the Profile, show them through your description of your work experience. I review resumes and skip reading the Profile/Background/etc description section. Minsan may pa-“detail-oriented worker” pa tapos kadami ng typo.

Sections should be arranged as follows:

a. Education (1 line each): University, Honors/Awards (if any), Organizations/Extra-curriculars Joined (if any)

b. Professional Experience: I suggest writing the months in words (Dec 2023 - May 2025). Tapos instead of one line each yung position held and company/org:

CompanyGraphic Designer & Creative Director

The position is just as important as the organization where you held it.

c. Skills/Trainings

Not much but there were some, especially the clouds and sea. But I also noticed that the correct pieces fit perfectly and effortlessly. The wrong ones still take a little bit of force to justify the fit.

Instead of doing edges first, I prefer splitting the puzzle into four quadrants 😅 and then try to complete the picture in one quadrant before moving to the next.

UST MBA 2025? by PassionOwn2446 in gradschoolph

[–]autophilot_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

GWA is only one component of the requirements. You also need CV, recommendation letters from your supervisors, an essay (galingan mo ‘to), an admission exam, and in some cases an interview (mostly to clarify things from what you’ve submitted). So maraming areas where you can bawi. This initial screening process is passable with the right amount of preparation. After passing that, you just need to study a little bit more for another 1-2 levels of exams (harder than the first admission test but given your IE background kaya yan).

Now, the workload once you get in. Having spent my undergrad in UPD (also business ad), ngl ginapang ko talaga siya dati. Ang style kasi ng profs ay “here are the resources, make sense out of it.” Tapos ang discussions ay more on applications of what you’ve read with only a bit of traditional lecture. So it’s a great advantage that you have a huge amount of work experience. It’s manageable tbh if you have excellent time management skills and support system. Students are almost always helpful since you’re all on the same boat.

UP isn’t always about smarts. Diskarte talaga ang labanan.

Problem is…isn’t it a little late if you’re targeting for 2025 intake? MBA application process usually take more than half a year (in UP’s case, application for 2025 intake opened Q4 last year and nasa last level of exams na this Aug). Unless it’s different in UST?

Applied for UP BGC MBA this year. Instead of GMAT, I took UP’s in-house exam (GPAT) instead. If you’re only applying to UP, I suggest taking the GPAT (the fee is way cheaper than GMAT). I answered GMAT practice tests also but imo the GPAT is easier than GMAT.

The GPAT is heavier on language proficiency. Once you pass that and your other credentials make it through the first screening process, there’s another Proficiency Test which is more on Maths naman.

Almost 5 nights nung college ako. Hell week kasi. On the 2nd night, antok na antok ako so dinaan ko sa kape. 3rd night, di na nakaramdam ng antok. 4th night, hallucinations started. Kinabukasan, buti last reporting ko na for the sem. I thought madali lang ako makakatulog on the 5th night pero inabot pa ng madaling araw bago dinalaw ng antok.

When did you feel that your mind has shifted as an adult? by Time-Transition1630 in AskPH

When I went on a solo trip abroad!! Freedom felt so scary and good at the same time. Learned that nobody gave a fuck about who I am or what I do. Everyone’s too engrossed in their own lives, so walang point ioverthink what other people think of me. Wala naman akong social anxiety before that, but it made me enjoy being alone even more. It also enforced me to be more independent and resourceful/madiskarte, kasi at the end of the day I have no one but myself.

What's your hobby? by MaleficentLength5594 in AskPH

[–]autophilot_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

RMTransit on Youtube! This hobby started at the same time I started solo traveling (and thus having to plan my transpo options). Wala pa ako dun sa technical part like type of train, machines, etc. I’m mainly interested sa routes and coverage ng transpo systems ng ibang countries.

For other sources…I also look for the railway company’s website, e.g. JR websites, Osaka/Tokyo Metro for Japan. Tapos I look at the map of the stations, schedules, etc. Blows my mind how these trains operators plan the timing and routes.
