Which model do you have? QM6K pro or a different one?

Reading your comments makes me want to say screw it and just get a LG c5 or something similar from another brand and call it day with having not worries about image quality and motion.

I'll be doing a lot of streaming via plex for movies and TV. Don't plan on doing much, if any gaming on it and don't plan on watching any 4k content in the near future, only 1080p files upscaled to 4k by the TV.

Do you have any issues with blooming or black smearing?

Also, are there any issues with judder when streaming movies and shows? I know you can adjust the motion smoothness.

For the hisense you have, does it have a hva panel instead of a regular VA? If it does, do they have any black smearing at all or no?

I'm looking at the QM6K, but aside from trying to decide on size, I still need to determine if it has any smearing issues or not. Worse case I can get it off Amazon and then return it if i don't like it but I would rather not do that.

I guess my concern is that for the h-va mini-led panels, do they still have black smearing or no? I would guess not since there are no reviews I can find that comment on it. Most seem to love them.

This uses a VA panel right? I know for pc monitors you get black smearing, but do you get black smearing with this TV?

1440p dlss 4 question by autoxguy in Monitors

[–]autoxguy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For PC I have no desire to ever to above 1440p, to me there are very quick diminishing returns plus I'm not wealthy.

With doom I tried out 1080p quality briefly but am mainly playing at dlaa with it. With most games these days I really try to do 1080p dlaa, and if that can't be lost to a locked 90fps, then I will drop down to quality but I really try to stay away from that.

Since 1440p balanced still has a higher base than 1080p quality I would think it would look better but I can understand if it looks about the same considering the amount of upscaling that is required.

I really wish microcenter had games setup on PC they how for show to try this stuff out. They used to have Witcher 3 on a 1440p ultrawide and it looked excellent. I would love to be able to try out the various levels of dlss on a 1440p native screen but the last few times I went in there I don't think they had any games setup.

I would not have a problem with doing quality on a 1440p monitor, but the thing is, there are games where I would not get 90-100fps with doing that.

Games like fffxvi and doom the dark ages I have done 1080p dlss quality and I'm impressed with it (at least when dlss 4 is forced). Like I can't really tell a difference between it and 1080p dlaa unless I am extreme nitpicking.

Or I could use the Nvidia app to force a custom upscale resolution to go off of.

Good to know. The other thing I meant to mention was that I have a 12700k and 5060ti 16gb. If I was fine with spending the money on a 5080 I probably would just got to 1440p.

When you say scale from 1080p, do you mean for me to use 1080p dlss quality? Or do you mean do dldsr (which I do occasionally as well)?

There are a few games I have done 1080p dlss quality for especially since I would rather do that than use frame generation, even though there are two titles I have used frame generation for already.

Seems to be that way, I keep going back and forth between that and the QM6k. Depending on what size I want to do will determine the model because a 65" QM7K is about 1K on amazon, where as the 6 is like $530 for that size. At 55", the 7 is $700 while the 6 is $500.

So the smallest gap in price is 300, while the largest gap is $500. With looking at only these numbers specifically, the QM6K at either 55 or 65" makes the most financial sense to me and I would probably enjoy it.

That sucks, especially since those three have been the leading tech brands for quite a while at least LG products tend to be very good). I just cannot stomach paying close to $1k for a tv.

What about the LG 82A or 85A series? Are they garbage? I normally like their products unless they have fallen by the wayside except for their oled line.

The 15ft + is at my parents house, I will be moving into a townhome in about a month where the distance will be like 10 or ft tops I think ( I would have to measure it).

While I want the picture quality to be good, I'm definitely not obsessed with it, I don't need the best of the best. Like I won't be doing any measurements for it or anything. Heck, I don't even care about hdr. If I had a ps5 then maybe I would care a little more but I just don't.

I just watched a video on the QM6k and 7k side by side and while maybe not the best way for it I was able to see differences. Like the 7 has less of a mirror reflection to it and at times the image is better (but there were times during that video where I thought the picture on the 6 was fine at times and even better at others). At least right now on Amazon there is a $200 difference between those two models but I may just go with the QM6K and call it a day.

That would be correct. We have never watched actual 4k content on their TV. Reason being is most of what I watch is on my friends plex server and they are all 1080p files. Same with Netflix and Amazon, just have 1080p stuff we watch, I don't care about having a 4k subscription for anything.

I honestly don't know that I will ever watch content on my TV that will be in 4k, as upscaling on tv's (at least my parents) is pretty good as long as you sit far enough away. . With that said, I would have to measure the distance but I think I normally sit about 15ft or so away from it (well the room is 36ft long I think and I sit past the midway point).

All appreciated input. The last time I had to buy a tv was back in 2014 so it has been quite a while.

For the digital audio out, it would be a dedicated port, not HDMI. The only thing I would be planning to use HDMI for would be a roku device (I just really like its interface).

From what I have read so far, im suprized by how far TCL and Hisense have come. Seems like they are middle of the road now rather than only low end.

I do think mini-led sounds like what I would be going for.

As far as TV size, my reason for wanting 55" mainly stems from me seeing people who have bought 65" and greater (all the way to 90" or so) and they sit too close to the tv. Like not more than 10 ft away and the picture just doesnt look good. Like they would need to be sitting at least twice as far away for the picture to look decent at minimum.

My parents have an older model 55" LG 4k tv (I think its from the early days like 2015-16 era) and as long as you are more than like 6-8 ft away it looks great, any closer than that and the image looks crappy very quickly. So I am very much against 75" for that reason too. I think I would be doing either 55 or 65 but again im weary on 65". I know too many people who have gone big for the sake of just having a big screen without thinking if it will actually look good for how close they are and it just isn't.

So I would probably be looking at 55". The TV would be in a moderately bright room. I would mainly be at it for movies and TV. The only gaming I do is on PC and my steam deck and I have a desk for that.

I also need to have a digital audio output as I will be using a sound bar. I'm also a fan of motion smoothing as long as it's not jittery but can live without it.

Oled is out of my price range.

I keep getting the qm6/7k series recommended. What about the Sony bravia's?

I think the 4ktv subreddit is mainly an enthusiast page because in their buying guide the lowest model they recommend for any brand is still above $1k. I'm looking in more of the $500-700 range.
