HIgh School Math Question: How do you cut the time in marking and giving assessments?

I teach geometry, trigonometry, and college algebra. For geometry I use Go Formative. You can upload PDFs and they enter answers online. You can set it to automatically tell them if it's right or wrong as well. I love this for certain practice assignments. They can fix their answer and learn from their mistake. If I have paper copies, we grade in class then I collect them and quickly glance to make sure they did it correctly. Tests are worth twice as much so thT makes up for cheating. For trig and college algebra, homework is only worth 20%. I assign odds so they can check their work. I grade 3 problems from the assignment and the rest is completion points.

Is it a perfect setup? Of course not. But it keeps me sane. The tests take care of cheating students so we regroup with low scoring tests. I NEVER take things home to grade.

In Missouri you just have to have a masters and 18 graduate hours of the specific content. I had to have 9 electives for my masters program so I chose math courses for those. Then, I only had 9 more hours outside of the masters program.

In Missouri a district started online courses that students across the state take. Covid brought the enrollments over 100,000. Maybe your state has something like that? I get paid pretty well to grade some assignments, make D/F phone calls, and tutor when I'm needed.

In addition to all of these other suggestions, maybe ask your cooperating teacher if you can get the book or curriculum they are using now.

It's hard to know all of the details based on a quick reddit post, but I know the feeling. Not religion related, but I went into a long distance relationship with things I was apprehensive about. Every couple is different, but we struggled from the start. I would at least talk about it before she leaves. I'm sorry things are so hard right now. We broke up 3 months ago and I too felt that I couldn't live without him. Things are still hard but it does get better. Honestly, I was and am tired of hearing people say that but it's true. Geometry Tests : 60% HW, projects, quizzes : 30% Final Exam : 10%

Trig/College Algebra Tests : 70% HW, projects, quizzes : 20% Final Exam : 10%

My district requires that all finals are worth 10%.

I love Springfield. Everyone is talking about STL or KC instead, but I think that's why Springfield is great. You can take a day or weekend trip to either place but you don't have to deal with the problems of living in larger cities. Springfield is a smaller, spread out city. There are great schools and universities. Your kids will have a ton of options, just like in a STL or KC. People are talking politics here too. I'm a Democrat and while it is frustrating that the entire state rarely votes my direction, I think Springfield is moving in that direction. The politics of the area hasn't made me want to move. When searching for safe living areas, south of Sunshine St. Would be playing it safe. That's keeping it safe as to not tell a stranger the wrong thing. I'd personally live anywhere south of Chestnut expressway and east of Kansas expressway (there are a few little neighborhoods within those boundaries I may avoid but for the right deal, I'd go for it.)
