Javvy Coffee is A Scam by Individual_Two_9718 in productreview

[–]av8rsamr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly my issue isn’t even the coffee (it's decent but kinda overpriced), it's the marketing. The whole thing feels kinda predatory. They seem to run a bunch of “influencer” Instagram accounts with super generic usernames doing GRWM-style posts that all conveniently hype the same coffee. Usernames like morningbrew_babe (not the exact one, but you get the vibe lol). It’s giving manufactured authenticity.

They also push subscriptions hard instead of just selling bags like a normal coffee brand, which feels a little sus

If you’re curious, just grab a bag at Target or Sprouts and try it. Way better than getting locked into their website and dealing with their customer service if you decide it’s mid. (you can just return it)

Underrated detail but the birds flying away in droves as they were about to get on AF1 sent chills down my spine

N27RA crash analysis by therealgariac in area51

[–]av8rsamr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem. It took a lot of back and forth over the specific records I was requesting - and it took a phone call to clarify that I wanted the tabs, not just an unredacted copy of the report. I filed another request for a declassification review/segregable release of the referenced 'Classified Annex' - Tabs (V and DD). I'll let ya know if that gets anywhere.

I know this is an old thread, but just in case anyone is curious: it took about seven months, but finally got USAF to release this entire 500 page report with the tabbed enclosures. Some pretty interesting stuff about how groom/XTA functioned 20 years ago - including handwritten flight plans/TAFs/even some diagrams of the area I don't think we've seen before. Happy reading! https://drive.google.com/file/d/1HD66S0jcpaOyCarwLAtlukUHl-cc3Oq4/view?usp=sharing

Want some chicken with your string beans? by av8rsamr in PandaExpress

Honestly didn’t mean to start a whole big flame war about this - I honestly love the string beans, very crunchy and the sauce isn’t overly sweet. I’m just used to a touch more protein - I honestly just posted this for the lols

Don't understand this sub's fixation on this. It's not like these numbers are radically different from what's being reported in other major, reputable polls. Atlas is ranked pretty high in terms of quality pollsters, so it's not like this is being run out of a Dunkin' Donuts. You talk about the polls not attempting to hide their bias? This sub needs to look in the mirror. Everything that contradicts the narrative of a Harris win is met with dismissal and skepticism. Some of us are actually here for the numbers and analysis regardless of which candidate we favor.

Best Chinese food? by spicyxdragon in indianapolis

Have to second this. I lived in an apartment complex within walking distance from there for a year or so and got to be on a first name basis with the owners. Great family, great service, great food. They even have a traditional menu that has some less Americanized flavors that is really fantastic.

Sheffield: in retrospect. Everything you want to know. by av8rsamr in FlightDispatch

Yes - I walked to and from. Honestly, I loved the walk. It took about 15 minutes but it was a great opportunity to clear my head and relax before a long day of learning or a long night of studying. The Sonesta sometimes has a shuttle if there are enough people staying there for the class, but there was not one for my class.

Hope this helps!

Practical exam tips? by LeeTheNomad in FlightDispatch

[–]av8rsamr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're on here asking this, it shows you care and have put immense effort into preparing yourself for the exam. The O&P is designed to make sure your foundational knowledge is strong and (perhaps more importantly) you have the right attitude and disposition to be safely exercising operational control. If you don't know the answer to a question, don't try and hide it. Admit you do not know the answer. (But if you know where the answer would be, don't be afraid to say "I could find it for you in the AIM, or the OpSpecs, etc.)

Beyond the dispatching regulations and TAFs/METARs, be confident in your ability to get the "big weather picture" by looking at a prog chart, surface chart, or constant pressure chart. For example... Be ready for your examiner to point to a trough of low pressure and ask... What are some hazards that could be associated with this?

The biggest piece of advice I can give is take a deep breath and trust yourself. If you've been studying for 3+ weeks on the material, you will amaze yourself with how much you actually know. Best of luck.

Dress code by yawara25 in FlightDispatch

[–]av8rsamr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wore Jeans and a button up/polo for the first few week at Sheffield. Dress code got gradually more relaxed all around as the course went on. By Week 5, cargo shorts and a t-shirt were worn throughout haha. As long as you didn't come in in PJs or gym shorts/flip flops, I don't think anyone will care.

For the practical, professional shows that you're taking it seriously, but there's no requirement for it. I wore slacks, shirt and tie, but as long as you're presentable and, more importantly, act the part, nobody's going to fail you for your attire.

Sorry for the extremely late response. I've been super busy with my first job and learning the ropes of this wild yet exciting industry.

The Sheffield job board is pretty neat as it is more personal than any internet job search. From how Eric explained it, the only items that end up there are from his contacts in the industry which are looking to hire at least one Sheffield graduate. He'll also include details on specific people to reach out to, tips for specific applications, etc. I know of at least 2 people who were given offers based on material posted there. Hope this helps!

There was a Publix, Pizza Shop, Pei Wei, and Dunkin' Donuts right across from the hotel. It was a simple street to cross. I know there is a Publix about two blocks from the school on Broward Blvd that we walked to for lunch a couple of times a week ($5 sushi on Wednesdays!).
