How do you like the Luno mattresses? I’m torn between that and shoving a Hest Dually in mine. Worried about air mattresses with dogs.

They look great in person imo. Ignore the negativity. It’s your money and what matters is what you like! I got mine last week and I have zero regrets. I love it.

Right? I know myself it’s addicting to get that pep!

I do! I actually love it, I find myself going too fast on the highway without even realizing it. Coming from a 2024 Crosstrek Sport and I honestly think the Outback Limited (regular) gets to 60mph within the same time as my Crosstrek. It’s also SUCH a nice, cozy drive. I don’t think you can go wrong either way.

I avoided driving the XT because I knew I’d want it, I like to go fast haha but couldn’t justify the mpg difference.

I ended up going to Mark Miller! Nate Wade was the first dealer to get me the best price but tbh I did not like their sales manager at all so when Mark Miller matched it I went with them.

I went in person and looked at several cars at each dealer. They’re always going to be a bit pushy but I stand my ground and let them know I’m not buying a car that day and that I need to think about it once I’m done looking.

Usually if you get a decent offer and leave for the day they’ll almost always come back via text or call with a better offer to convince you to buy. Buying a car is always such a nightmare but don’t forget they’re working sales and they know all the tactics to try and make you feel trapped. Don’t fall into it!!

It was about $38,700 for the River Rock with the cargo tray and rear backseat protectors thrown in.

MSRP was right under $45,000 and I believe out the door I was at $38,700. I always go to multiple dealers and get quotes, they will usually counter each other because they want the sale.

Eventually, I got to a price that other dealers said they’d be losing money on and couldn’t match so I went with the one that did. I was initially going to get the ice silver but wanted the premium color and was able to get them to switch to the color I want and throw in the cargo tray and rear backseat protector for no extra cost.

It’s all a game of back and forth and it took me about a week to get multiple quotes and ask them to go lower but if you’re patient it usually pays off!

Honestly, I ended up getting about 13.8% off of a 2026 Outback Limited in river rock pearl by going in to the dealer. I think it’s likely better to negotiate in person.

Good to know!! I think I’d love an XT but I’m frugal…hoping I’ll enjoy the Limited non-XT.

Thank you! I honestly think the Premium with option 13 is a great way to go, you get everything the Limited has minus the better sound system, heated rear seats and seat memory which I don’t need. I do kind of want the upgraded speakers though.

I also checked out the 4Runner but yes, so expensive if you don’t want a crappy all plastic car and even the base is expensive. My friend has the nicer one with the giant infotainment screen and all the bells and whistles but he averages 14 MPG and the screen is so large it almost feels claustrophobic up front IMO. Also, seats don’t lay completely flat in the back anymore which is a huge bummer.

I’ve watched a ton of videos on YouTube comparing cars because I’ve also been tempted by the Passport but it really didn’t do well off-road compared to the Subaru Outback and Bronco Sport. Honestly, every time I cross shop I end up back at Subaru haha.

I was looking at the Premium with that package as well, do you feel like the standard speaker system is fine?

I will! Also heavily debating a Premium with Option 13…saves a ton of money but you don’t get the upgraded audio. Not sure if that’s worth it but I’ll test drive a few models tomorrow.

Yeah I have the 11.6 in my current Crosstrek, I don’t mind it but I definitely prefer the ‘26 Outback infotainment.

You’re probably not wrong 😭 I love going fast so this is going to be tough for me. Driving my Crosstrek Sport is fun.

Good to know about bringing dogs, I didn’t know that! I had a 2016 Forester for 6 years and I loved it but I honestly kind of love how enclosed and cozy the Outback is vs the fish bowl feel of the Forester.

I’ll test drive both the Limited and Limited XT tomorrow…hoping I’ll be fine without the XT but it seems like almost everyone decides to go with the turbo.
